Drunk on a friday nite and I'm watching the replay of SB XLIX and seeing SEA give away the game to the patriots.

Anyways, the bottom of the screen is scrolling and giving the projected Draft picks for this year's draft and they have the Dolhins taking UGA LB Nakobe Dean with the 29th pick.

Still so pissed that dumbass Grier focked around with trade with 1st PHI and then SF to grab this spot.

I truly hope that Flores has the receipts and takes down that fock Ross and hjis cronies.  Fock me.

I'd be absolutely stoked if LB Nakobe Dean (or Devin Lloyd) slid all the way down to us to pick 29, but I've only seen one mock to date predict that (Bucky Brooks). Most have them going in the top half of the first round.

We're in a prime spot to draft the best RB available at 29.  That's something people have wanted for a couple of year now right?  I'd be stoked if we got the guy from Michigan State.

McDaniel will want a RB, although Duke Johnson did pretty well during his time here. Might keep him on as a change of pace back if he is cheap.

The best thing I've heard is that we would use it in a trade for a starter on offense. I'm all for that.

Kenneth Walker, yeah if we stay put I’d like him at 29.

I would throw it in for Ridley if he wasn't on the last year of his deal.

Both the CBS and NFL sites don't have him rated in the top 50 prospects, and none of their mocks have a RB taken in the first round. Are they missing something?

I was dead set for grabbing Cam Akers two years ago, or Najee Harris or Javonte Williams last year because we had the draft capital to do it (multiple firsts and seconds) and these guys were widely rated where abouts they actually went.

We also had a genuine need for a premier RB, having a scat back penciled as the primary rusher: at the end of the season we added Duke and Lindsay who showed us just what we were missing. If these two guys are retained, do we need to burn (our only) first rounder on a RB this year, or wait until pick 50 and see who's there?

All that said, having pick 29 doesn't exactly fill me with a lot of confidence from the get go. It will always be a case of "best available" regardless of position.

Hmm interesting. Trade out of the first altogether and nab him in the second? Otherwise yeah best available player.

Williams is going to do great things in Denver and although Phillips turned out to be a good pick the idea of Tua with Harris/Waddle still sounds good. We will see!

General early offense thoughts:

O-line in round one:

OC Tyler Linderbaum
OT Charles Cross
OG Ikem Ekwonu
OG Kenyon Green (could last until Rd 2)

RB in Rd 2 and one of the many-many excellent tall WRs (Pickens, Ross) in this class in Rd 3.

Have to address O-Line in free agency, no more rookies learning on the job. Get the best RT on the market and hope the new coaches can do something with the 1st and 2nd rounders we already have on the line.

I know that RB is a need and our new coach loves his running, but our Receiving Corps is Waddle, Gesicki if he re-signs and 3-5 games of Parker. That's absolutely terrible so maybe go earlier with WR if we don't find some in free agency.

I wouldn't be surprised if McDaniel of all people could get a lot of impact out of Lynn Bowden.  He seems like a McDaniel type of player.  I am not against drafting another WR though.

It's certainly possible. I've said it a million times, Flores got 9 wins from this team despite being a terrible coach. I don't think any player overachieved under him, so real coaching can get more out of players, even fringe guys like Bowden. Not saying we have 19 Pro Bowlers on the roster but I expect a lot of improvements from guys like Jackson and Eichenberg just due to new coaching.

I agree with this. With Fuller a bust, Williams regressing and Parker always injured, we seriously need to upgrade this unit.

If our first rounder was higher (thanks Grier) it would be the first area I would look at targeting. Depending on what's left at pick 29, it still might be.
