Local kid from Northwestern High.  He's bounced around the league and has started some.   He's coming on under a one year deal to back up Tua.

And already there are Dolphins fans clamoring for him to be the starter ... hahaha.

I'll stop short of wanting him to start, but I will say this:   He's a much better player than Brissett.   Had he been on the roster last season, he would've won one or two of the games Brissett started when Tua went down.

Big improvement over Brissett.

Good signing. Very capable backup, miles ahead of Jacoby last year.

Signing a guy to be a BACKUP that has $3.5 million dollars in incentives seems like you want a dysfunctional and contentious QB room.  So unless the plan is for Bridgewater to start or the incentives are team incentives this doesn't seem too bright.

I don't see it that way at all.

It is entirely possible to set up incentives in such a way that MIA is telling Teddy, "We're bringing you in as a backup, but if you end up with the playing time of a starter, we'll make sure you're taken care of."

Could be the only reason he signed as well. Tell him that if things turn to shit, he will get paid.

Tua has a bad game.  Bridgewater has 3,500,000 reasons not to be supportive and encouraging but rather lobby for a shot to play.

True, but Teddy has enough on tape to let the coaches know that he isn't the guy to lead this team in the future. He is the "I won't lose you a game by throwing 3 picks and a fumble if Tua is hurt one week" guy and that's all a backup should be.

If he becomes a true threat to Tua, then that's because Tua sucks and at that point nothing matters since we will be focusing on 2023.

At this point in his career if Tua needs a backup to be "supportive and encouraging" he doesn't belong on the roster.  He's far from a rookie.

Like the signing...I think it is good to have a back-up QB who has the  potential to help win games, if necessary.
