It's mild and she's fine.  She has a fever spike to 99 or 100 about twice daily, which we treat with Tylenol.  The worst part about it is just her boredom.  I'm at work (from home) so I can't really entertain her.  We have kept her sister at grandma's house, because we don't want to have both of them out of school.

I don't know the right protocol, but I've basically split the house.  She isn't coming in my room where I spend the majority of my time and I wear an N95 to venture into the house to tend to her or do other things.  I really don't want my other daughter or my wife to catch it, for two reasons.  One, I really don't want them to have to miss work/school for an extended amount of time and two, I don't really want them around during the day while I'm trying to work.

It only took one week back to school to catch it.

I imagine that this is the new normal -- just bouncing back and forth with COVID throughout the year.

So, I guess I'm just writing this because I've locked myself down until this blows over.  Bleh.

Sorry to hear about your daughter, but yeah, I think this is the new norm.  Although I think your approach might be the minority.  With most people going about their lives when they have minor symptoms, not testing and not bother with self isolation.

I think you're right. I and my family would quaranteen ourselves  unitil we were fine but I don't think many do any longer. One of my daughters had gotten it a couple of months ago. Although she was fine after a few days she stayed home until she tested negative. Even the CDC is basically saying these days that it's each individual's issue to protect themselves.

Sorry that you guys are going through this Dave but hopefully it keeps getting easier to deal with the more all of us are exposed to it.

Thanks.  I am not worried -- this is super mild.  It's more just about managing the family -- not just health, but accessibility.

Having COVID in the house makes parenting hard -- you are missing school, work, you can't send your kids to family, you can't have friends over.  It's just cabin fever, so I don't want it spreading -- I figure we hit this thing hard for one week and then return to normal.  That is a short-term sacrifice, especially keeping my other daughter away and doing my best not to let my wife get sick.

I now have symptoms, so I'm pretty sure I've gotten it.  I don't want to waste a COVID test, because I don't really see a point in it.  My daughter is pretty much over it -- she still says she has a sore throat, but fever is gone, no cough.  I will likely test her again tonight.

My only annoying symptom is a sore throat.  I am clearing my throat a lot.

But other than that, I'm just lethargic.  That might be from lying around all day though.

My daughter seems completely fine, but she still tested positive tonight, but the line was lighter.  I tested negative.

Just make sure everyone is drinking fluids and getting fresh air. Not saying go to the Mall, but definitely go outside in your yard or park and get some sunshine.
