I know it may be a silly question but some of you are the most leftist people I have ever known and I really do have a genuine curiosity as to how or why you see things the way you do.

My question is this ... does it bother you that they haven't announced the culprit, that they have a security breach like that in literally the most secure place in the world, or that it is seemingly being covered up.

Before you answer I will say that if it was Trump, DeSantis, Bush, or whomever I would still be bothered for several of those reasons. It could just as easily been a bomb or a bug.

They found 7 one thousandth of an ounce of an unknown substance that they did not know the source or what it was so they tested it.  It turned out to be coke.

There was no fingerprints and nothing to identify the source.  In literally any other setting other than the Whitehouse, .007 ounces of a white powder would have been vacuumed up without being tested or reported.

Am I bother that someone with access to the Whitehouse uses cocaine?  I would prefer nobody used it.  I am I naïve enough to think that any modern administration doesn't have a portion of people with substance abuse problems?  No of course not.

Am I am I going to buy into your completely unsubstantiated allegation that they haven't "announced the culprit" r that there is a "cover up"?  Absolutely fucking no way.

Am I concerned about the security.  Not really.  Bringing .007 oz of a white powder into the Whitehouse would be pretty trivial.  The secret service doesn't have drug dogs at the security points, they have a dogs that sniff for bombs, but not drugs.  They have electronic surveillance to prevent "bugs".  This reminds me of the "security concerns" folks had after Barbara Bush's purse was stolen in Argentina while being guarded by the secret service.  The job of the secret service is to protect personal property it is to protect the person.

So this is a minor concern, but nothing major.  I am willing to bet if you searched hard enough you could find .007 oz of coke in the capital, pentagon, and every statehouse.

I believe the only appropriate response when a Trump voter complains about some moral failing of a Democrat has to be, "We didn't elect an angel-in-chief!"

If you think it's ok because we didn't elect an angel in chief then your priorities are much different than mine. I don't think one has anything to do with the other in this case. I would think more of that if Biden got caught diddling Nancy Pelosi or something.

I couldn't give two chits about it being cocaine or even if it was Hunter's ... other than the jokes it presents. It's the fact an illegal substance got in. Like I said, it could have been a bomb or a bug or even something worse. I like to believe that our men and women of secret service are capable of securing the White House so I'd like to know where the failure came from and that it won't happen again.

I would be shocked if bathroom tests in places like the White House DIDN'T regularly return positive results for cocaine (regardless of president). I would certainly prefer that no one used it and I have no problem with mandatory testing staff in high-security locations like the WH.

I'm not sure what can be done to find "the culprit".

I think you are VASTLY overestimating the security involved if you think an insider wouldn't be able to walk in with a bit of cocaine (or even a bug) on their person.

There's a reason White House employees need a security clearance (and why relying on "interim" security clearances is bad practice). It's the only realistic way to minimize the risk of things getting past security. It's also why El Al (Israeli airline) relies primarily on background checks and actually had much lower levels of physical passenger checks for years (no idea what the situation is now).

hahaha .... I didn't realize the Secret Service was inept during Watergate. Silly me ... I just thought it was a crooked overbearing Republican president.

I don't think there's a story here.

I listen to a podcast of guys who used to work in the White House.  They were describing the location of where this all went down.

Someone who works adjacent with the White House (or a visitor) cleared a checkpoint (which makes sense because metal detectors and bomb sniffing dogs are detecting cocaine) and left it in a cubby where you're supposed to leave cellphones and backpacks.

There isn't enough identifying info to know who it is because it's not something you would see on a camera and there are too many hands that touch the area so fingerprints are no good.

I guess it's the dope that has rotted your brain so I'll try and explain it in more detail. My whole point is about the security breach. That is specifically the Secret Service. You insinuated that the GOP, and I can only assume myself as I am the one questioning it, want to turn it into another Watergate. The two issues have nothing in common. One is about a president doing something illegal and the other is about the men and women who protect the president being incompetent.

^^^ Logic and reason seem to be beyond your grasp, so let me make it simple for you. You are talking  about 7/1000th of a gram. You could have that under a fingernail. Security is NOT going to ever catch it. ...and you not only expect security to catch it, but you somehow want to pin this ridiculousness on Democrats.

And, since this is you we're talking about, I suppose you know a bunch of Democrat friends in your neighborhood (lol) that agree with you.

Last time in this thread... spout whatever BS garbage response  makes ya feel righteous.

CF, I have a question for you:

Do you believe that cocaine was brought on to the premises of the White House during any or all of the previous 10 administrations?

Because it seems like this whole song-and-dance is very much moralized pearl-clutching, which (again) is completely ridiculous coming from those who repeatedly voted for Trump.

My issue is who saves that miniscule amount of cocaine?
