Me and my fiance are moving to TN next week. We currently live in WPB Fl and pretty much got priced out. I can't lie and say I ever wanted to live here anyways, let alone raise a family here, but leaving all our friends and family has been tough on us. We are looking forward to four seasons and a change of pace. Folks here are miserable to one another. It's kind of crazy how bad it has gotten over the past few years. We have been to TN a few times now and have yet to feel like it will be a mistake. It's still going to be a struggle to find a place to plant our feet, but it just seems easier than Fl. I can imagine everyone has the same idea and soon enough the major areas and even small towns will be flooded like nashville but we are staying east and away from cities. The idea is to buy 5 plus acres and build. I'm very fortunate to have a roughneck for a better half. She's more than willing to tough it out in a tent if we must just to have a small piece.

Good luck with your move.   I would recommend moving closer to Knoxville than Nashville.   There are few things more beautiful than a trip through the Great Smoky Mountains, especially in the fall.

We are staying very clear of Nashville. We are moving just outside of Knoxville now and looking to settle in either north TN or middle TN.

I couldn't agree more about The Smokies. We fell in love the moment we got there.

My aunt lived in Maryville about 30 minutes south of Knoxville. I was a nice area back when I visited in the 80s and 90s. Not sure what it's like now.

This is one of the reasons i moved out of south florida. Connecticut was way more affordable by comparison.

I've vacationed in Asheville NC, and the smokey mountains in late october were incredible. Especially the valley the Grove park inn overlooks

Good luck with the move.

You're right people in South Florida for the most part nasty and rude.  We just spend time in the midwest and it was night and day noticeable difference in public demeanor.  Its remarkable how much we are willing to accept when we get use to it.

That's also a good point, people here are generally more engaging and friendly. I stopped at a wendy's drive-thru to pick up a baked potato and i had a full on conversation with the employee.

We go to the mountains at least once a year but many times it's a few times. Our annual trip is taking our bikes up in October to see the leaves change but we also like to go white water rafting in the summer. Our October trip we typically stay in Wear's Valley so very familiar with that side of the mountains. We even met with a realtor a couple of years ago as we were debating the move. I was offered a transfer to Knoxville.  Lot's of great places to live in and around Knoxville. Good luck with your move!

Getting offended by something you see on the internet is like choosing to step in dog shite instead of walking around it.

I hope you find that the new location is a better fit for you temperament and your wallet.

However, understand that a lot of happiness comes from within you.  If you're looking to be happier because of where you are, you might find that you'll be frustrated anyway, but by different things.

I  hope no one was behind you. Nothing bothers me more.
