2011 NFC East Champions!

« on: January 18, 2006, 02:19:27 pm »

I don't have a link to this but heard it on sports radio today.

There was a fan who stormed the field in Cleveland while the Browns were in the middle of getting their ass completely destroyed 41-0 by the Steelers in week 16.  A fan rushes onto the field, and gets tackled by someone until the security got there.

He was sentenced today.  He wasn't sentenced to pay a hefty fine, or spend months in jail, or have his driver's license revoked.  He was sentenced with:

1. Not being allowed to a Cleveland Browns game for the next 5 years
2. 140 Hrs. Community Service
3. 3 Days in Jail from February 4 to February 7.

So basically, the judge said "Oh so you're a football fan, huh???  We'll lock you up during Super Bowl weekend".  He is also NOT allowed to either watch, listen, or read about the Super Bowl the day after until he's free February 7.

Locking him up for 10 months wouldn't be anywhere near as sweet, torturous, or have more of an effect then removing football from him on the most important football weekend of the whole year.

What a great punishment.  When was the last time you did NOT watch the Super Bowl?  I've never not watched it.

With the exception of three Super Bowls missed during the 80's (out on field maneuvers, and watched a recorded copy 3-4 days afterward), I think I've seen all of 'em back to the merger in '70. Knowing my Dad, he probably had me on the couch with him for the 6 previous non-SB title games before that as well...I just don't remember it.  Grin

That would be a major punishment to me. I've never missed a Superbowl.
