The Daytona 500

So, I watched the Daytona 500 today.  It was actually really interesting and I enjoyed watching it.  I'm not a big fan of the "sport" but it wasn't a terrible way to waste Sunday, in the background.

Anyone else watch it?

I don't really follow NASCAR, but I will give the sport credit for this:

You will NEVER see contract disagreements, holdouts, CBA's, or work stoppages involved in auto racing.  In order for these guys to make money, they have to win.

Living so close I usually watch this one. I even went to the Bush race a couple years ago. Being live is pretty fun.

Nope, do not care about a so called sport where they change the rules weekly to help out whomever they want & they simply make left turns all day while running a marathon, & where everyone helps everyone else out & a driver could have a half lap lead & be running away with it then some flunky wrecks & they allow the man in second to catch back up. 

I think football should try this.  Play the game, then at the halfway mark of the 4th Qtr.  make the game a one point game.

Just think how exciting ending of games would be?  No more blow outs.

Don't laugh.  Nascar is able to sell it to fans, why can't football?

In my opinion,  a sport is a sport when it becomes physically demanding in every way. When athletes utilize their entire bodies to participate.  All this crap about NASCAR and golf being sports is just a reason given by them and others who enjoy it to make themsleves feel better/important about what they do/like. Those games take skill,  I'll give it that,  but so does playing video games,  and last time I checked, THAT'S not a sport.

A few days ago I heard an announcer on ESPN call poker a sport.  A SPORT!?  What the hell is next,  UNO?!!  Whatthehellever.

The dictionary defines sport as an activity usually involving physical exertion and having a set form and body of rules. That would make NASCAR and Golf a sport I believe.

     Some of my relatives are NASCAR fans so I watched a little bit of the race.  Normally, I really don't give a shit about NASCAR.

I went to a night race in Charlotte 2 years ago. The company I was working for at the time set up a booth, and we got free tickets on top of time and a half pay.

I enjoyed it, and would go again, as long as it didnt mean missing football. But, I cant watch it on TV.
