2011 NFC East Champions!

« on: March 01, 2006, 09:11:20 am »

I got an iPod Nano this weekend.  It's fantastic.

I want to know how to change song titles, artists, and add in the album name in the display screen of the iPod, from iTunes.

1. Is this even possible?

Ok here's what I mean.  Here's how stuff currently displays in iPod:

     Metallica - Enter Sandman
                 Metallica

But for some reason, some songs display like this:

               Enter Sandman
                    Metallica

These same songs, in the master play list, display like this (which I don't like):

AC / DC - Hells Bells
AC / DC - Highway To Hell
Enter Sandman
Metallica - One
Metallica - Ride The Lightning

Get the pattern there?  I mean I can handle the master list not having the artist's names, but i defnitely want the song display screen to be in this format

            Metallica
                Fuel
             ReLoad

Anyone?

I think it has to do with the existance of your ID3 tags on the files.  If your ID3 tags are properly filled out, it will display that info.  If they are not, it will display the file name.

I'm not sure, myself, that's how MY non-iPod MP3 player works.

Jtex, do you mean the display when the song plays?

Mine reads:

Enter Sandman
Metallica
Black Album

It always reads:

Song Title
Band
Album

As for changing song titles, artists, and album names, it can be done through your i tunes software and then downloaded onto your i pod

Great.  Now HOW do I do that?  Right-Clicking and choosing "display info" doesn't help - everything is properly filled out there.

Strange - 70% of the songs on my iPod show a little picture of the album cover that the song is from - I wonder if the Nano can't do that?  Mine is the larger 30gig jukebox.

It's a bit of a pain in the ass, because you have to do it for each song, each album.  I can't give you instructions until I get home, since that's where my software's at.

When I download music from i tunes, I get the album cover.  When I upload from a CD, I have to copy & paste an album cover into the i tunes info section...

Windows Media PLayer will automatically pull the album covers if you use it to rip CD's.  I'm not sure how that interacts with iTunes, though.

it puts them into itunes .. you can sometimes even get lyrics on there and pictures of the inserts

you have to right-click on the track and select GET INFO.

then click on the INFO tab (the summary tab is the one thats open by default) and make sure the correct info's filled out THERE.

you then have to completley delete the files from the iPod and reload them.  if you just hit "SYNC" it just adds/deletes new songs, not necessarily changes the ID3 information for existing tracks.

there's no options in the iPod itself as to how to properly format and  display the song information - that's controlled in the INFO tab.
