That may be on the horizon for me. I drank a few beers earlier, then tried to go out. I sat down at the bar, and ordered a beer, and it just didnt do anything for me, so I came back home.

Has beer ever lost its "umph" for anyone else?

That happens every now and then.  It's not so much the beer as it is you not being in the mood.  If it starts happening more frequently, then it's time to quit.

I quit drinking beer on a regular basis around 5 years ago. I can't just come home and open up a beer. It doesn't do anything for me anymore. Seeing my Dad slowly die from psorosis of the liver didn't help either. I still drink, but its not a routine part of my life. In fact, I think there are still 4 beers in my fridge from when Tony and Brian were at my house in August! The only time I usually drink now is when I am at a business function/dinner and I do it to be social. Other than that, its once in a blue moon.

I agree there.  Although I've never been the type to "come home and crack open a beer", I would go to Happy Hours from time to time.  I also have a father who passed away due to schirosis of the liver so I know the feeling.  Nowadays, I only drink when watching football or talking sports with the guys, and it's usually done at a local pub.   During the football off-season, I can go for MONTHS without having a drop.

Drinking is tricky. I was only a moderate drinker in college. I have been drinking a lot in law school. I'm keeping an eye on it. Sometimes, if I'm honest with myself, I realize I'm relying on it a little too much.

It has been happening frequently. Funny thing is, when I came home from work today, I REALLY wanted to drink.  Grin

Its wierd, I hardly ever drink anymore either.  You'll really only see me drinking at tailgate parties or other events.  I used to have a beer with dinner, etc, but there's a 6'er of Corona in my fridge and no one's drinking it.

I dunno...  I guess I'm becoming an adult?

Top Ten Signs you're becoming an adult.......

10.  You can recall when this season's fashions were popular the first time

9. The cop who pulls you over was the bully who used to beat you up for your lunch money in elementary school

8. The rock group you idolized is now only heard as Muzak in grocery stores and fast food joints

7.  Telemarketers give you their sales pitch instead of asking to speak to your parents

6. Your childhood baseball hero gets inducted into the Hall of Fame

5. You start looking for telltale signs you've inherited your father's baldness

4. You are talking to a pretty co-ed, and she refers to you as "Sir".

3. You just don't have the energy to party until 6 am like you used to.

2. Your friends stop regarding you as a macho man when you get drunk a lot, and start regarding you as a slobbering idiot.

1.  Your mother stops complaining that you're too young to go steady, and starts complaining that you still haven't committed to anyone.
