Did anyone watch this?

I checked it out.  It was mildy entertaining.  John Stewart was pretty funny, I thought, but I don't like listening to speeches. 

I was surprised to see Crash win Best Picture.  It was a good movie, though...so that's cool.

One of the best parts was when Three Six Mafia won for Best Song.  They all went apeshit and then Stewart made some fun of Martin Scorsece for having less Oscars than Three Six Mafia.

My wife had control of the remote last night, so I watched the whole thing (while surfing the web on my laptop).  I thought Stewart did a good job.  The beginning and ending of the show was a little chopped and awkward, but overall he was funny and kept things moving.

As for the show itself - boring, really boring.  Costumes, sound engineering, short clips, etc.  People I've never heard of, working on movies I've never heard of.  The Oscars should be 30 minutes long and give out 6 awards.

I didn't watch it but read an interesting article today. Apparently we "common people" get Stewart's comedy more than the stars. They were saying they did not find it funny and looked bored in the audience apparently. There were also suppose to be spots of silence after some of the jokes.

Never watch 'em.   A.A. only go to boring, independent, or films that no one has ever heard of because they only released them in 2 cities (N.Y. / L.A.)   I also think it's hilarious that actors/actressess who have made a career in Hollywood starring in hit after hit films and never win an award,  and some schmuck who walks onto some retard movie wins.  Sort of like Marino and all the tard QB's in the league with 1 more ring than him.

The Oscars should be 30 minutes long and give out 6 awards.

I only saw bits, but I especially loved George Clooney's "maybe I'm out of touch" speech.  He basically said that he may be out of touch (with the real world), but that "we" (the academy) were the first to award an Oscar to a black person in 1939, even though the country was still largely segregated.  In other words, Clooney hailed "out of touch" actors as harbringers of social change.  Funny, I thought Hollywood had white actors performing in "blackface" during those times, too.  Guess Clooney didn't want to take credit for that one, huh?

I don't mind the guy, and I've liked maybe half of his movies, but a friggin' entertainer is not gonna tell me what's right or wrong, good or bad, or who needs to do what in this world.  I guess I have a problem when people whose ignorance to the real world is only exceeded by their willingness to spout off about their views use their fame and status to tell me that one party is evil, or that Florida will be underwater in 5 years due to global warming, or that, yeah, "I ride private jets everywhere I go (huge waste of fuel and a huge pollutant on a per capita basis) and consume more energy than 30 people in my 15,000 square foot mansion but something really must be done about the ecosystem..."
I may need to open up a rant thread so I can let this out, because I really despise these Hollywood bozos with no education but oodles of "expertise"...

The Oscars is a big event for all actors involved.  After the show, they have a fabulous dinner, then they all tend to get drunk and wild.  This is their one night to live crazily.

Crash was a good flick, but not that good.  Whats' with best picture?

I think that they should have more awards, and less speeches and introductions.  I think that Best Picture has pretty much turned into "Best Gutwrenching Drama".  Even though these are excellent movies, Best Picture nominees are usually Epic Style dramas that are very HEAVY.  ...something that makes you emotionally drained.

I think that they should break it up a little bit.
