I have today cancelled Netflix, due to the fact that it completely sucks, and I don't use it.

It started out great - I'd get movies in a few days.  Now, it takes a full 7 days to receive a movie.

Furthermore, since I got Adelphia cable with 80 movie channels and the onDemand service...Netflix has become obsolete.

It's a great idea, but they leave a lot to be desired.

7 days?!  I send mine out on a Tuesday, they get it on a Wednesday, I get a new one on Friday.  Without fail.  I did read, however, that for some clients that turn movies around real quickly (I think it's more than 8 in a month for the "have 3 out at any one time" package) they delay sending you a movie back so they can control their profit (or lack of it).

Maybe you were a serial renter and you got popped.

Actually, they have a class action lawsuit against them for this.

That has been resolved.  Netflix only broke the law in that they didn't disclose their "throttling" technique in their terms and conditions.  Now that they do disclose it, they are not breaking the law.

Giving 7 days for a return allows about 4 rentals a month, per DVD on the account, assuming the DVDs are watched when they are received.  You're on the 1 DVD plan...how many DVDs do you expect to get for that in a month?

I typically rotate my DVD stock....  I'm on the 3 at a time plan, I send the first one back when I recieve the third one, and throw the second one in the middle somewhere.  That way, they typically keep em coming, since there's usually about 3 or 4 days between discs.

So, i end up keeping any 1 disc about a week.

Throttling sucks, and is cheating, IMO.  They say "unlimited" but they really are limiting your ability to rent by being slow ass bitches in getting them to you.

I was on their throttling list. I was on the 5 movie a month plan and still got flagged for excessive returning of movies.

It wasn't until I got Adelphia cable, as J Tex mentioned, that I wasn't using the service as much. We downgraded to the 3 movies a month and return them alot less.

I get new releases without a wait and they send the movies in a day or two.

So at least you know it's possible to get off the "throttle" list by changing your renting habits.

I get on their naughty list during the summer, but once football season starts back up again, Netflix is nice to me again.

That's why I go to blockbuster....I don't rent movies,it don't cost a thang....

For me there isn't enough new movies that I want to see,to spend cash each month....
