That sucks dude, especially since you have a kid. I wish you the best. She is taking the house...thats rough.....if you decide to get married again, be smart and purchase some insurance (pre-nuptial) beforehand; its the only way to protect you in this day and age.
My child is not with her, so it won't hurt him much. As for the house, it's her's to begin with (she bought it with money her grandparents gave her before our wedding). so I really won't have a leg to stand on going after it. However, there is a law stating that if she bought it while we were married, it is community property in GA. Again, I'm willing to concede the house if she pays off the credit cards with the equity in it. She owns that house free and clear, and our total credit card debt is less than 25% of the value of the house.
My mom's gonna help me buy a place later on after I rent for six months.
