If you like watching good young pitchers go at it, find a good seat for the D-Rays and Tigers matchup tonight. Scott Kazmir battles Justin Verlander in what "could" be as epic as the Pedro-Webb pitching gem we had just a few weeks ago.

Verlander is at home and has a better overall squad supporting him. I'm thinking Tigers win 1-0, on a 9th inning error by Julio Lugo or Joey Gathright. Over-under on total number of hits combined...seven.

I got Tampa 4-3. Thanks for the heads up. This should be a good one.

Kazmir gets rattled when runners get on.  I think that Tampa doesn't have the sticks that Detroit does right now.  Kaz is the better arm, Ver gets the "w" tonight.

Kazmir is a chump.  Look for Verlander to take this one easily.  Kazmir can only hope he can some day be as strong as Justin Verlander.

The young pitcher match-ups I really want to see in the AL right now all revolve around my three favorite AL rookie starters:

Justin Verlander vs Francisco Liriano
Jered Weaver vs Francisco Liriano
Justin Verlander vs Jered Weaver

Give me any of those and I'm not leaving my comfy chair until it's over.  Grin

Kazmir has to get his pitch count down. I hope he wasn't listening to Al Leiter when they were both on the Mets.
