NFL Ticket?

Does anybody know the status of Direct TV's contract with the NFL to be the sole provider of games?

I was hoping Adelphia would have a similar option this season. Now that I'll have a newborn, there's no way I'll be able to make it to the bar every Sunday to watch the Panthers and key fantasy football matchups.

DirecTV still has it locked up. I believe the even signed an extension.

I think that this is a bad contract.  People choose their TV providers for much more than just the programming.  Some communities come with cable already, and other places aren't allowed to have a dish.  It's too bad -- not that I'd get Sunday Ticket either way....

yeah...It's 5 payments of...like $41 something...it went up this year..and That's with the annual renewal....

Direct Tv got it again kind of like the same time that the T.V. contracts were renewed...Well Duh! sorrry...

We'll today i called Directv and got a 50 dollar credit on the Superfan pack, and 3 free months of the Starz movie PACK. I threatned to cancel my sunday ticket subscripition. Amazing what they'll do to keep you as a customer.

I've had the Sunday Ticket 4 straight seasons and am not even thinking about giving it up now. As someone who is not only a football junkie, but also a fantasy football junkie, the ability to pick which games you watch instead of being at the mercy of the networks is worth whatever the cost.

They signed an extension prior to last season. I believe it was for 7 years.

They are locking out millions of fans by working with only satellite. Not that I'm in love with cable but i get my internet, t.v. and phone through Adelphia. I don't want to have to switch providers, and also, satellite is more expensive when not bundled with other services.

That's the NFL for you...... they won't allow their Sunday Ticket Package or NFL Network Channel to be sold by anyone but DirecTV.... they won't allow blacked out games to be shown on DirecTV or in bars.  They won't allow games other than the Super Bowl to be viewed overseas. 

IMO, they're a bunch of scumbags.

     Actually, NFL Network is also on Dish Network.  Dish is a little less expensive than DirecTV, but you won't get Sunday Ticket though.

     Yes, being at the mercy of the local networks sucks!  On a side note, {BrightHouse Networks SUCKS!!!  It is the worst goddamn cable company in Florida, if not the worst cable company in the United States!}  Anyways, for example let's say your a Dolphins fan living in the heart of Central Florida about 52 miles away from Tampa.  So naturally, your cable provider will be in the Tampa Bay area.  So, on Sundays on FOX you know you're going to get the Bucs. 

  Since the Dolphins are in the AFC you would think that for sure you would get the Dolphins game on CBS.  In the words of Lee Corso, "Not so fast my friend."  Instead of being shown my favorite team at 1:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon, instead I get shows on snowboarding and extreme sports, or perhaps an infomercial explaining all the wonderous and amazing uses of the Magic Bullet. 

  So, if I wanted to catch a Dolphins game, I had to listen to my radio for well over half of the season.  That's why I'm switching to satellite TV, I'm fed up with local networks.  It makes zero sense being forced to watch a game that I don't want a watch, and to watch a team that I loathe almost as much as the New York F'N Jets!  I could go to bars, but I don't want to.  I'm just stubborn like that.  Point is, I'm done with Cable TV.  What I pay for standard cable, I could get 120 plus channels from Dish Network for significantly less.  F*CK YOU Brighthouse!

Local stations are not allowed to broadcast other games across the dial from the local game.  If the Bucs are your "local" team, then NBC isn't allowed to show any other game if the Bucs are on Fox. 

I don't know why, its the same way when the Dolphins are on here.

And, besides - NFL Network is available on Comcast Digital Cable

And, besides - I'm paying a hefty maintenence fee every month which includes my cable service.  Do you think I'm really going to pay for dish on top of that?  Fat chance...

     I understand the whole concept about "local" teams, it's just something that bothers me not only as Dolphins fan, but football fan in general.  Sometimes you just gotta vent.  I would love to get another cable provider that carries NFL Network, unfortunately Brighthouse Networks has most of Central Florida by the balls, so looking for another cable provider, is out of the question.  For some reason they won't let any other cable providers into the area, it just has to be BrightHouse.  I don't know why, it's just that way.  If there was a way I could get another cable provider, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Hmmm how's that apply here...They get to see both the Rams games,and the chiefs game when they play at the same time....They fox will show the rams (most of the time),and the chiefs on CBS (most of the time)..Alos we get the Cowboys instead of the Rams,becuse of Jerry Jones local connections.

I think the boundries need to be re written,adjusted,whatever.Too many complaints on what games get seens and where.

The local cable here is Comcast, and they offer NFL Network.
