There was something that I never got to respond to in the old retirement thread considering Favre and Brian.
Brian intimated that Favre only stuck around to break records. I think Brian is totally wrong on that.

Favre was a football player, and as long as he could play, and be at his best, he was going to suit up every Sunday and give it 110%. He was about winning, and knew that that was why you play the game.

I don't think that he was in it for the records. Being the caliber of QB that he was, it was only natural that he would have re written the history books.  I know that I didn't like seeing Marino's records fall, but that's what records are made for. If not Favre, then it would have been someone else.

As a football fan, I would rather watch a great like Favre play his ass off every game, pulling rabbits out of his hat, than seeing records stand.  I just think that watching good football, and great football players is more important to the game, and to the fans, than records.

Nope. Brian got it right on the head. He's won the Superbowl, he's got the records, only now he has nothing left to play for. If he truly LOVED the game he would still be playing . Remember Emmit Smith? Now that guy loved the game. I'm not saying you need to play until you embarrass yourself like he did.........but Brett proved he can still play at a high level.

He left because his goals are complete. Its that simple. That  and he's tired of freezing his ass off!  Grin

Brett Farve did stick around only to break records that took better and more talented quarterbacks did it in less time in the league. Brett was selfish to hold his team down from moving forward. If Brett was it it because he loved winning and playing why would he retire after the 07 season ?

No doubt. It was about the record books. Its completely obvious and I would respect him more if he would just admit it. Nothing wrong with it either. He earned it. But hold the fake Tears and Bullshit Brett..........

Dear Brett Farve.

I liked you.  You were pretty cool, but the fact that you spell your name like a wierdo and the annual Brett Farve Media Whore I'm Gonna Retire But I Haven't Decided Yet Maybe I Won't Retire I'll Think About It Oh Shit Training Camp IS Here I'm Still Gonna Play thing wore me the fuck out.

You were a worthy adversary.

Look forward to your hall of fame speech and you confessing about what you really said to Glanville after you wrapped that car around a pole in Atlanta (leading to him trading you, Atlanta still hasn't recovered).

Good Bye for now.  See you on NFL films.

I wonder what Jtex will have to say about this?  He hates Favre like poison.
