During a Thursday press conference, Jets coach Eric Mangini was asked about whether he’d tolerate a player missing the offseason program to participate in a dancing competition.

Said Mangini:  “Having such a passion for ballroom dancing, like I do, I’ve watched some of [Dancing with the Stars] and [Jason Taylor] is pretty good.  He’s impressive.  I didn’t vote, but I thought he did a great job and the longer he wants to stay out of Miami’s camp, I think he should.”

A division rival makes a comment/joke about the rival's star player staying out of camp as long as he wants and that makes him an idiot?  Does anyone here not want the entire Patriot and Jet starting lineups to skip training camp?

Same one.  I just thought the comment was funny. 

There are some Pat fans whose hate is too great to find the humor.  There is a thread on a Pats board slamming Eric for the comment. 

My response was if, BB had said the same thing there would be three thread talking about how well he handled the mediots. 

The smartest thing I have ever seen written abouts sports is the following:

Who cares what site reported it? I heard it today on NFL Radio, on Sirius. Would it make you feel better if someone posted the link to ESPN reporting the same joke from Mangini? It was a funny quote.

I'm not slamming Mangini.... I'm slamming PFT.  They've had a bad reputation for quite a while now. 

If Mangini did make those comments, I can see why.
