On the Coast of Somewhere Beautiful

« on: May 29, 2008, 12:47:29 am »

The Pens won tonight's game against the Red Wings- so at least if we lose the series it won't be a shut-out so we can't be too embarrassed. I was thinking though, if we would happen to win the next 3- the last game at Mellon Arena would be the Pens winning the Stanley Cup...how awesome would that be? Oh and I just found out about the whole octopus thing- eww that is just weird.

Game 7 is in Detroit- if it is needed. That's why I said IF the Pens win the next 3- then only 6 games are needed. And game 6 is in Pittsburgh. I know not likely- but a girl can hope.

The Pens of today remind me of the 1983 Edmonton Oilers.... a cast of talented players headed up by a young rising superstar (Wayne Gretzky/Sidney Crosby).

Granted, that 1983 Edmonton team lost to the NY Islanders in the Stanley Cup Finals that year...... but then went on to win five of the next seven Stanley Cups.

Todays Pens are more like the Pens of the early 90's. Two young superstars, one french Canadian- Mario Lemieux (Sidney Crosby), the other a speedy eastern European Jaromir Jagr (Evgeni Malkin is Russian, but still you get the point).

And Apr Fools- you just now found out about the octopus? I guess you aren't a big hockey fan. They only talk about that EVERY year the Red Wings are even in the playoffs!

BTW- The Red Wings are winning the series.

Be happy if they can pull off Game 4 and even up the series.  I am just glad it won't be a sweep.  Nothing better than Stanley Cup game 7.

BTW - the Flyers suck

The best game of the series so far and I missed it because of my pool league.  Sad

Yeah but they can't throw it anymore.  Panthers fans in 1996 throwing rats on the ice caused the NHL to ban that.

Umm no not a big hockey fan. I've been to see the Pens play and that's about it- they are the only team I follow at all. And it's disgusting that they have ever been allowed to do that.

Well there goes my scenario! I doubt the Pens have much of a chance winning Monday in Detroit- it'll probably be the end
