I just wante dot start this for the people that actually pay attention to hockey, and i wanted to ask you hows your team looking going into the offseason.

The leafs missed the playoffs again and fired Coach Paul Maurice and GM JFJ, I  knew going into the season that they weren't going to make the playoffs, the biggest need they had going into the offseason last year was defense, and they didn't address it. Vesa Toskala did a good job in the net regardless of the terrible defense. Getting better on defense should be the primary goal for the team heading into this offseason, hopefully they will improve it. I haven't heard much about a possible new GM for the team, but hopefully they can get that situated soon.

From what i am hearing Ron Wilson the guy who coached San Jose the past four seasons is offered the head coaching job for the leafs. I don't think i mind it too much but the problem with the team lies in the ownership not the coaching. The ownership has to have the final say in how the team is going to run, so the GM doesn't have complete control of the team, which is a bad idea.

What i would do if i am the ownership of the leafs, hire Scotty bowman as GM. and let him hire the coach and do everything that involves the team (he actually said he would like to be the GM of the leafs, but Richard Peddie said no to it for some reason). If i did these things and just let the hockey minds run the team, then the team would be back to the stanley cup in a few years.

Yeah the team is in a bit of a sad state. I won't be buying a jersey for the team until the team starts to stabilize and start winning.

I'm actually encouraged by the Panthers and the way they closed out last season.  I think they were contending for a playoff spot and, after a less-than-stellar start to the season, recovered nicely to make a playoff push.  I think they can come back strong and challenge for the division title next season, and hope that they actually can.

Rangers will either move up to contention or fall down to the draft lottery next season. They went backwards this season and essentially laid down for Pittsburgh in the playoffs, so changes are in order.

^^^  yup!   Shocked Shocked Shocked

I agree with Brian. Tomas Vokoun stepped in nicely after Luongo took off. He may not be at his level, but if the cats can help him out a bit and quit squandering games in the 3rd, we can make a run at the playoffs next season.

Yep, what Brian said. The Panthers games we went to towards the end of the season were awesome.

The Panthers are such a frustrating team. They have some of the best young talent in the league and struggle so much putting it all together. Vokoun is sick. Our defense needs to pick it up, Bouwmeester can only do so much. I really think next years relies on Horton and Jokinen and how much difference they make. If they keep playing way below their potential, than we are going to be in for another short season.
