Wide receiver Javon Walker, an offseason addition of the Oakland Raiders, was hospitalized after an apparent attempted robbery in Las Vegas.

Police spokesman Bill Cassell says in a statement that Walker was taken to a hospital with "significant injuries" after being found early Monday on a street off the Las Vegas Strip.

Cassell says Walker remains in fair condition at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

A Raiders spokesman said the team was "in the process of gathering information" and had no further comment.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reported that he was seen Saturday night partying at the Wynn casino, spraying the crowd with bottles of Dom Perignon.

Walker signed a six-year, $55 million deal with the Raiders after a down year last year with Denver, where he had 26 receptions for 287 yards.

The strange journey of Javon Walker continues.

I don't understand this guy. Darrent Williams dies in his arms and basically, he's back out in the same environment where something can happen again?

He'll be out of the NFL in a year.

It's a shame because he's a big time talent.

Partying in a casino only qualifies as being "back out in the same environment" if you're Joey Porter.

The details are admittedly quite scarce, but there doesn't seem to be anything that Walker did in this case that would qualify as  "poor judgment".

I remember when Zack Thomas was walking in NYC and he got stabbed in the cheek. Just because your famous doesn't make you immune to assholes. Vegas seems to attract all kinds and can be a very bad place off the strip.........

If I am in a club in Vegas and I paid a lot of money for my clothes only to get washed down by some asshole that took it upon himself to rinse me off with champage...I'd be pissed.  I'm not the type of guy that would follow him into the street and take my cleaning costs out on him.  But I know plenty of people that are.

I agree showering people down drew attnetion to himself. That is the only comparison between being at the Wynn and that Denver strip club though.

When are the African American athletes going to ever learn that clubs and alcohol equate to trouble. Bring the damn entertainment to you. How many more examples do you need to see of young african american athletes getting into trouble , because they put themselves in bad positions. Walker of all people should know better after what transpired last season with the broncos and Darrent Williams.

When are they going to realize they're targets and people are jealous of their success, but they insist on going to nightclubs flaunting. When was the last time a white athlete was arrested or got into an altercation at a nightclub? Tom Brady and Peyton Manning make loads of money, but they don't feel the need to flaunt it.

You put yourself in this position and this what happens.

You know, the irony about the whole thing is that in the Williams case, what started the altercation that led to Williams being gunned down was that knucklehead Brandon Marshall spraying champaigne on a few people that got on to a couple of gang members which started words between Marshall, Walker and the gang members while Williams was trying to calm the situation.

And what the hell were they doing partying in a place where gang members hang out in the first place??  If I was a multimillionaire athlete, I would've found some establishment in a nice part of town, and paid them big bucks to close down for a private party that night.

The night that Darrent Williams was killed, Walker, Brandon Marshall and Williams they were at a low rate club where bangers hung out, at a birthday party for perpetual hurt forward Kenyon Martin of the Nuggets. The club was know for having fights and gunfire. They could have went to Elway's in the exclusive neighborhood of Cherry Creek.

In the old days, the Broncos and Nuggets would be seen at house parties but it was safe back then. For some reason, most of the Broncos hit those seedy night spots and they are probably looking for a one-night stand but a price comes with it.

Face it a lot of kids get recruited for college have gang ties, and they do not sever them once they get drafted, and think they can still hang with the homies like the old days, not realizing they are now juicy targets.

That's sad but true.

And I'll bet this is one of the things they talk about at the rookie symposium... the fact that people are gonna be coming out of the woodwork trying to get your money.

These guys gotta learn that you have to turn your back on your friends if they're gonna drag you down.... even if it breaks your heart to do so.

When you're a professional athlete (or any celebrity for that matter), and you're hanging out in a public bar at 2 am... you're ASKING to get hassled.
