Movie Review: Wall-E

When Pixar comes out with a movie, you can pretty much guess as to what the film is going to include.  Celebrity voices, couple of jokes for adults, decent animation and a story you'll forget in a week.  I saw Kung-fu Panda and was impressed because of the comedy and not too shabby fight scenes.  I'll give that one a B.  I don't even think it was Pixar exactly but you guys know those types of computer animated movies.

So I just got back from watching Wall-E...I'll start with the bad-

There is none.  I loved this movie!  The story was surprisingly good complete with a good message.  The animation is incredible to say the least.  If there was a cuteness scale this movie would be off the charts.  I'm not a person who just throws the term "cute" out there often but wow this movie made me feel like a giddy 8 year old kid again.  You can expect all the good from what you've probably come to know from these movies but you can add good story and great development. 

I'm sure some of you may find some things wrong that you'll be nitpicky about (I'm looking at you, Dave) like a sighing or out of breath robot.  But other than that its very well made so its hard for me to find any flaws with it right now. 

So yeah, you guessed it.  I give it an A.  This is my favorite computer animated movie now. 

Go watch it.  If you're deciding between this and Get Smart, its no contest.  I'm glad Ms. Guru and I snuck into that stinker right after Iron Man.  I would have been PISSED if I would have paid for that shit.

I'm a little shocked. When I saw Guru was reviewing this, I fully expected a bad review! No offense intended, it just didn't seem like your type of movie, so I thought you wouldn't like it.

Anyway, we are going to see it in about 20 minutes, so I'm happy to read the good review.

On a sidenote: Guru mentioned one thing which Pixar is known for- celebrity voices. If I'm not mistaken, I read this movie has virtually no "A-list" celebrity voices.

Wow Get Smart was a funny movie, especially if you ever watched the original series. It was levels above Zohan, which was beyond a stinker movie.

Really?  I thought it was awful.  I would have written a review just so I could give it its D- but I figured everyone that has seen it would have thought so already.  Carell is the only reason it didn't go into the badlands of an 'F'.  I thought the writing was piss poor as well as the characters' interactions and development.  Corny jokes that have been done before complete with a story so shitty you'll forget what its about by the time you get home.  The Rock is terrible.  He took over Vin Diesel's job of making shitty characters even shittier.  I will admit there were times I chuckled but it was all Steve.  Had it been Ben Stiller instead of Steve Carell, it would have been on VHS by now.

But back on topic.  Wall-E.  Go watch it.  Guaranteed you'll love it.

Glad to hear it.  My kids go crazy whenever they see a trailer for it on TV.  I guess we will take them to see it soon.

I gotta agree with Guru, it was a great movie. We just got home from seeing it, and all 3 of us loved it. I told Mrs Philly that I could tell Little Philly LOVED it because he didn't ask to go to the bathroom at all during it!

On a side note, I asked for 2 adult and 1 child ticket. The kid looks at me, my wife, and son, and gave us 1 adult, 1 student, and 1 child ticket. My wife looks fairly younger than me, but come on. Student? I guess it could've been worse, he could've given me a senior citizen ticket!


edited to add- I also love the Peter Gabriel song at the end! He's one of my favorite artists, and its a great song.

I went and saw it at a drive in. It was hard to see a bunch of it due to the dark scenes. I laughed at the bits I could see, so I will have to go to a regular theatre to see what I missed.

I saw this and it was good. Not sure if it was Pixar's best. I was looking for more, just from the previews, but as usual, the previews showed all the best parts.

Kids may like it, but will a robot love story bring them back? Not sure this will make the money they hope it will. it will be close.
