They win tonight against Atlanta, there's a 3 way tie at the top of the NL East

F the phillies, the mets, the braves, the AL in general, and everyone who doesn't believe the Marlins can take their two dollar team and park it in the big money playoffs.

If the Marlins make the playoffs on that payroll, Larry Beinfest will have his pick of GM jobs this offseason.

I have to eat crow on this one. I was hard on Fredi Gonzalez with the way the Marlins handled his firing.
I predicted gloom and doom.

If the marlins get into the playoffs, they are going to the World Series. In about a week, their pitching staff should be top-notch and Cody Ross is playing his @*# off.

The Marlins keep proving that you can do more with less.

The marlins need to put together a winning streak of more than 3 games. They need to start sweeping some of these series. They've been hoovering between 1-3 games behind for the last month and a hlaf it seems.

The picthing is great, but situational hitting stinks and sometimes fredi makes some questionable managing decisions.

I still say the fucked up by not getting manny. Who cares about prospects. Manny is a hall of fame player who would've brought some juice to this town. Beinfest is great, but he must be second guessed for not pulling the trigger on the manny deal.

F Manny.

They need bullpen help.  Not batting power.

I for one will not complain about the Fish not getting Manny. He is tearing the cover off the ball in LA and I couldn't be happier.  Grin

We signed Paul Lo Duca to a minor league deal today. He's going to be in AAA Albuquerque and we will probably see him for some roster depth once September 1st hits, and the roster expands. Overall I think it's a solid move because he is definitely better than Hoover's punk ass. It's going to be interesting to see how Treanor holds up after coming back from the groin injury.

Anibal needs to have a better showing on Monday against the Cards. He didn't have much control at all versus the Philies 2 days ago. If he bounces back and has a game like last week, we will be right on the money.

I'm not sure if anyone noticed but we just took 2 of 3 from the Philies on the road without hitting a single home run in the process. We are looking more legit by the day. These next two series are important (NL East and Wild Card) and must win for the Marlins.

Paul Hoover sucks.  Treanor is coming back.  I liked Rabelo.  What about John Baker?

I am excited to have LoDuca back, though...

I was given a TON of flack when I said "wait until August and September and check in with me" about the Marlins.  They aren't going anywhere.

So - those folks wanting to stuff my face full of crow...4-6 in their last ten, falling quickly out of the NL East race at 5 games back, even further back (9) in the wild card...

3 games over .500 with that payroll is amazing.  But let's be realistic.  These are the Marlins we're talking about here.  Give them another couple years before their annual WS win / fire sale tradition continues.
