I'd love to see him have another 2002 performance this season.

No doubt.   Those were fun days.   Nobody can say he didn't play with a HUGE heart.   H-U-G-E

I really hope he gets a chance to excel this year.

Too bad Fiedler got injured and lucas turned out to be a turnover machine.  The second video also shows where Chambers stopped being good.

I'm all for it believe me..........but remember even though we had the league best rusher........we still did not make the playoffs, even with a pretty stellar defense at that point. We need one of our QB's to step up or we need to find one in the next 2 drafts.

We didn't make the playoffs because of two people.  Ray Lucas and Dave Wannstedt.

 Cry

Can you imagine what a competent Coach could have done with that Team? I'm telling ya JJ had us on the road to redemption!

Exactly.  Jay was playing some pretty good football up until the time he broke his thumb.  Ricky was running wild, and with Robert Edwards spelling him, there was no stopping that offense.

Don't forget Norv Turner's play calling in the finale.

Also Mark Royals sucked as a punter

All that comes back on Dave Wannstedt.  He should've been fired immediately after that game.  When you've got the top rushing offense and a top 5 defense, there is no excuse for missing the playoffs.

If we had a new coach then, I don't think Ricky would have retired.

Correct. I'm amazed that after all of these years, people can't realize that Ricky retired because he hated playing for Wannstedt. He didn't say it at the time because he didn't want to throw Wannstedt under the bus.

Ricky also became very depressed after the New England game in which Norv Turner called 3 pass plays and went three and out. In an interview after the season, he said that was his best chance to get to a Super Bowl with all the talent Miami had on that team.

I said that after Ricky came back in 2005.  He didn't retire to smoke Mary Jane.  He retired because he didn't want to play for Dave Wannstedt.  Hell, he needed the weed to ease the pain from all the punishment he was taking carrying the ball almost 400 times over two seasons!!!

He was too nice though.  What he should've done was gone to Wayne after 2003 and said, "I will not play for this loser coach anymore.  Either he goes or I go!!"

No doubt. I never said we were perfect, but we had a team that contended. If JJ had 1 more year to tweak that team , I'm telling ya #54 and # 99 would have had their rings. No matter how fast your car is.........your only as good as the driver.
