Yes, some receivers have excelled as rookies.

Yet most take two or three years to learn how to run routes, and how to handle all aspects of the position. I just finished Plaxico Burress' autobiography, and he wrote extensively about how long it took him to realize the importance of knowing what all the other receivers were doing on a given play. Now he even knows what the offensive line is doing.

So it makes sense to be patient with Ted Ginn, Jr.

Still, you want to see something that makes you think he can become a legitimate starting receiver. He has great speed and soft hands.

But does he have the strength to get off the line and break a tackle, the guile to get open, and the quickness to make tacklers miss?

What, in your opinion, would be a successful season for Ginn?

All indications point to Ginn being a bust, hell the whole 07 draft was bad, thanks Camoron. Can he get better ? Sure he can he can only go up, any lower he isn't playing football. Ginn is a kick returner by trade and what Camoron drafted him for, but maybe he can make a half decent WR if he works hard.

He's clearly and undisputedly our #1 receiver right now. Derek "but-I'm-awesome-in-practice" Hagan is the only one even close to pushing him.

Coaches usually only have positive things to say about their players, but with Sparano it's pretty easy to tell when he really doesn't like what a player is doing. With Ginn, he's been heaping a lot of praise.

Ginn was never drafted for returns only, but even if you refuse to believe that, he's still going to be our #1 this year. And, let's face it, what a few (or a lot of) fans believe isn't going to change what happens on the field.

Ginn will either sink or swim this year. Time will tell.

In my opinion, a successful season for Ginn would be 800 yards or so. It's going to be difficult to get much more with Pennington's arm limiting the YPC.
