I just came across this looking at the MNF between the Boys and Iggles.  DeSean Jackson just rips off a 61 yd catch and so I look up his stats

5-10 175 lbs

and then upon clicking on his name and I see his "Fantasy Spin" and I quote:

"2008 Season Outlook - Jackson has Devin Hester and Ted Ginn Jr. potential, both as a return man and as a deep threat on offense. He lacks the size to consistently go over the middle and needs tutoring on his routes, but Jackson has 4.39 speed and the ability to get around"

how can this "writer" even be serious when comparing to Ted Ginn Jr???  DeSean Jackson has done MORE in 2 weeks in the professional arena then Ted Ginn has done the last 1yr and 2 games!!!!

I can't the Parcells/Ireland combo didn't cut this guy when they moved in here.  he is worthless. Bess is moving up the charting and has replaced Ginn on all KO/PR

I am still amazed when I look back at this no. 1 pick from last year.  WHAT THE HELL was sham cameron thinking when he took this???  this will go down in Phins history as THE worst pick ever....this beats out Eric Kumerow, John Bosa or Yatil Green.

Yes so far Ginn has been a huge bust, but why cut him? If we did cut him what do we have for wide receivers? Do you have and idea how hard Ginn works to keep his uniform clean every week? Seriously it doesn't make any sense to cut the guy, let him play out the year and see if he can step up. If he falls flat on his face like he is doing now then they should shop Ginn around in the off season. But come on let's lay off the let's cut him, he is worth something.

Who is Jackson's Qb?  Someone with a much better arm than what Miami has.

Not going to knock players who get their knees blown out.  Kumerow was not a bust.  He was overdrafted.  Bust to me is someone who should do something.  Kumerow was never expected to be that great.

Ginn's the best we have right now, like it or not.  Until you can bring in 5 guys that are better than Ginn, he will have a roster spot on this team.

What happened to your 3 year rule for WRs???  Jackson has played 2 games in the NFL and has done more then Ginn has in 18 games ....apparently he knows how to run routes and get open, as well as return punts and kicks....even though Jackson and Ginn are the same size, Jackson somehow manages to get off the line and get open....Ginn is a pansy....period!! DeSean Jackson, imo, is a better WR than Ginn...regardless of the QB involved. Better hands, better route-running, and an ego that says "throw me the ball every time!"

He obviously needs to ensure that he brings the ball with him on his next trip to the endzone, but his talent is hard to argue.

Donovan McNabb often has upwards of 6 seconds to throw.  He has amazing pass blocking in front of him.  The DB's can't cover forever, I don't care how good you are.  It starts up front.

The Dolphins have to get the ball off in 2 seconds or less, which gives people less time to get open and results in "dink and dunk" passing offense.

You can not compare one player to another unless they play on the same team or are in the scouting combine.

Never said its a 100% rule..  Did not hold true for Colston.  However, for the majority the 3rd yr is the year they will break out ( If - Big word ) they ever are.

Jackson was also a better Wr in college than Ginn.  Ginn was extremely raw coming out of college.  He started his OSU career playing DB & came out after his junior year so you are only talking two years at the Wr position before his rookie year last year.  He was raw & had a ton to learn.  He would have been better off playing his senior year in college.

Another thing. Jackson is a whole lot more shifter than Ginn.  Ginn appears to not have anything close to his moves.

I still believe Miami's Wr play will improve not this year, but next when Henne is throwing the ball.

Brian how is it that no hands Hagan can get open, the tight ends can get open with this offensive line but Ginn can't? I thought he had all this speed ? Let's face it you can give Ginn 45 seconds and he will not be open, you need to run good crisp routes in order to do that. I can't remember the announcer before the game but even he called out Ginn, and Ginn did not answer the call.
Your argument just doesn't jive with me.

Guys Ginn was raw coming out of college.  He only played the Wr position for two years in college.  He is still in the learning process.   This is not to say he will not end up being a bust, he just might but from what I've read he is a hard worker, so I'm holding out hope that it will pay off.

Again Qb play has a ton to do with Wr play.  Miami did not have Wr problems until the decline of Marino.  Why is that?  Since then its been a continuous problem.

The best Wr they have had is Chamber & in SD he does not look like Chris Chambers in Miami.  Why?  Did he all of a sudden after years of failing to do so in Miami learn how to catch the easy ones?

Lay off Ginn as well as the rest of the team.  They are young & learning.  Let the learn & stop expecting a flip of a switch to solve everything.  Miami was 1-15 last year, if they get the 4-12 then they have had a successful year, especially when you factor in all the turnover they had.

Football is a physical game.  Ginn is a speed guy, he's not David Boston.  Ginn's not a over-the-middle type of receiver.  He's a streak down the sideline type.  There's three problems with this...

1.) he doesn't have time to streak past any DB's cause the line can't hold guys off long enough to let him go.
2.) Pennington can't throw the ball that far accurately
3.) If he gets bumped early in his route and knocked off course, every QB is going to look for option #2.

I agree he needs to work on fixing #3 by getting more physical and developing better tools, but basically, DB's don't respect his speed because of #1 and #2.  So, they resort to playing close, bumping early, and shutting Ginn down.

How many deep balls has Pennington thrown this season, in two games?  I don't remember a single one.

I do.  I think they both landed in the stands.  Chad's accuracy drops off a tad when tossing more than 20 yards.  That's fine, he's not a deep threat guy, hence the need for receivers that can run a route.

Bring in Joe freakin' Horn and do it yesterday, please.

Ted Ginn Junior = Yatil Green.  Only not as good as Yatil.

It isn't fair to criticize Ginn.  It's hard to get open when the coach won't put you in the game.
