This was the Case in Las Vegas, where he claimed he was trying to get back his stolen Memorbilia...

How will O.J. ever find Nicole's killer now that he's in prison?

I remember saying something about O.J. Simpson back when I was in high school.  I was dead wrong at the time, and it took me this long to be proven wrong.

My thinking at the time was that he probably was involved in the death of his ex-wife, but the fact that he got off didn't really matter all that much to society.  He'd lose in civil court, and it's not like he was going to do anything ever again.

I assumed that if you'd gotten so close to getting caught, that you'd just lay low.  Apparently not.

Characters like OJ have re-shaped my view on prison.  I don't know if it's possible to learn your lesson, if your character is so deeply flawed.  We see the same people getting into trouble over and over again -- no amount of chances or close calls seem to matter.

When I was young and would do something questionable and come close to getting caught, the first thing I did was think "I'll never do that again."  I guess some people just lack that.

It's sort of a shitty realization.  I'd have a lot more faith in the world if I thought that Pac-Man Jones had learned some valuable life lesson and emerged a better person.  But I'm jaded.  I think that we'll probably hear about him getting arrested for shenanigans somewhere down the line.

Good analogy, Dave.  Although we haven't heard anything about Pac Man since he joined the Cowboys.  Hopefully he won't turn out like OJ Simpson or Lawrence Phillips.

Excellent post.

I figured the same thing. Maybe it really was just a crime of passion . He saw his ex wife and just lost it.  He's got 2 children, maybe he lied his ass off to protect them. Maybe he is really just a cold blooded killer. A Bully.  Time will tell......... And it has.

He had a 13 year vacation playing golf and enjoying gold and his untouchable NFL pension. Time for him to pay amends.  If he gets life I'm guessing there will be a confession somewhere down the road as well.

He was deemed a flight risk by the judge and will not be allowed bond.  His sentencing is set for Dec 5.

Anyway, at least he'll be in jail. Good riddance.

And, Dave...Props on your post. That was a really good one.

When OJ was on trial for murder the San Francisco Chronicle did a story about how OJ ran a very violent gang in SF when he was in high school and his enforcer was Al the bronco driver. It just shows he is far from the good person he always tried to project. If it was not for his football talent he would have wound up dead or in prison decades ago.

It's funny you mention this. During the trial, my dad always mentioned that OJ was a thug.

I think this is an example of someone that cannot change. OJ is what I call a true criminal. In my opnion, there are those that will always be on the wrong side of the law. This has nothing to do with money, race, or intelligence. I think they're just predisposed to be criminals.

I think the average person gets caught up in something once, corrects what was happening at the time, and moves on with their life. The "true criminal" is incapable of that.
