I'm gonna do What I hate...and I wasn't sure where to put this...He's a lion...

I ask this as a Dolphin Fan..Ernest Wilford is a bust...(So Far) 4 year $13 million dollar deal...29 years old...2/29/2008: Signed a four-year, $13 million contract. The deal included a $6 million signing bonus. Another $1 million is available through escalators. 2008: $1 million, 2009: $1.5 million, 2010: $2 million, 2011: $2.5 million, 2012: Free Agent

Roy Williams 6 year deal 27 million dollar deal 26 years old (2004 1st round pick)8/1/2004: Signed a six-year, $27 million contract. The deal includes $11.16 million in bonuses. 2008: $574,500, 2009: $912,000 (Voidable Year), 2010: Free Agent
So we'd have him right now for a couple more years at his current contract....

So do you think he'd be worth going after?

If so what would you be willing to give up for him?

With the way the Lions are going, I'm sure Roy Williams could be had for a second round pick.  Considering we have two this year, I would definitely part with one for him.

We are far from 1 player off to winning a championship.  We have had only 1 draft under this admin.  I'd like to see as many draft picks as we can used for the next 2 drafts under them. Then we can start plugging in free agents here and there.

Williams is an already proven receiver who is young and extremely talented.  He would be a major upgrade over any receiver we have on this roster.

Tommy I understand what you are trying to say, but do you remember the Pop Eye cartoon and Whimpy would say"I would glady pay you Thursday for a hamburger today"?
The advantage Miami has going for it is youth, we should continue to do so by keeping all our draft choices.
But if Tuna and company go after him I would support it.

Well I brought it up,because He's 26.(versus Wilford 29) Still young enough to fit in our youth movement...even for a year or so.......A bit of a distraction...Alot of people wanted us to go after a guy like Ocho cinco (30yrs old) this past season, and Some people here had No problems about Trading for A.Boldin (28 years old)....

And I think We could use a good veteran reciever...but He's still young enough....I'm not sure...

I'm all for drafting a kid next year....I was watching alot of the Bears Lions game last week..He dropped a few passes, seemes to be Grumbling a whole lot.... Huh

I'd take Roy Williams in a heartbeat

this team needs a WR, another impact LB, a CB and a Safety....scratch WR off the list and you can address all of those needs in one draft and next year's free agency.

If Roth keeps playing like he has we might not even need a LB...maybe a MLB...I'm not sold on Akin just yet...he's solid but I'd like someone with more intensity.

I can't think about Roy Williams right now...I'm still saying daily prayers for drafting Michael Crabtree next April, and I need to keep spiritually focused here.

Has anybody heard Roy Williams believes the Lions can still make the playoffs? They are 0-4 and playing really bad so is Roy out of touch or just optimistic? I was just on the Detroit website and Roy is having a T.O. moment, he is complaining he is not getting the ball enough. Roy Williams is a free agent at the end of the year and Detroit said he is not up for trade, but would listen to any offer.

This is from Roy Williams website:

Mayhew said that he has no plans to open trade talks involving receiver Roy Williams, who will become an unrestricted free agent after this season. Like every GM in the league, Mayhew said he would listen to any offers but he doesn't expect to make any calls concerning Williams and doesn't expect to receive any." ~ Tom Kowalski

Hey simeon how about a link..Who the the hell is Mayhew?
Detriot free press yesterday...
http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20081006/SPORTS01/810060340/1048

From the article...
The NFL trading deadline is 4 p.m. Oct. 14, and speculation of Williams' departure is nearing a fever pitch.

Officially, the Lions said Sunday there has been no discussion about trading Williams. Coach Rod Marinelli said there has been no internal talk about trading Williams. Executive vice president Tom Lewand said the Lions are not talking to any teams about trading Williams -- but that they would listen to offers, as they would for any player.

All I asked was would you as a Dolphin fan trade for him...It's a simple question...the Lions said they'd liasten..Damn Dude...it's a simple questuion....

Trade one of our 2 second round picks for him. Do it now.

EDIT. No need to try and trade for him now if he's an FA after this season, right? Miami should just throw some money at him if they really want him.

Here you go little B, I thought I said it came from his website.

http://www.roywilliams.net/

While there aren't a lot of personnel decisions to be made in-season for new Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew, one of them is considering deals before the Oct. 14 trade deadline.

In other news, MLive created a list of the top 75 Detroit Lions players to commemorate the Lions' 75th anniversary. Roy is modestly ranked 70th. Not bad, Roy!
