I, along with many other fans thought he was washed up last year. Porter said it was just the different defensive scheme Cameron used, and he will be back under Sparano. I rolled my eyes, along with a lot of other people.

Well, Joey leads the NFL in sacks right now with 7.5 and has shut me up. The Fins aren't great, but it's good to know Porter is out there wreaking havoc and can maybe teach some of the younger guys how to play.

and how to clean up their act and be a proper ambasador to a team and the NFL.
Though I would say devotion to team first before the NFL.   I still think the NFL is in shambles and needs tougher fines and more stringent rules.

He was my Vote last year in my Most Disliked Dolphin Thread.

He 's in my Top 3 favorites now.

Whats changed about Joey Porter?  He's got coaches that actually motivate him now.

^^^ I'm guessing it has more to do with where he is playing on the field but if you think it's the coach's motivational speeches knock yoursefl out!  Grin

They ran a different defensive scheme last year than what he was used to and it showed. This season they are back to his normal scheme and he is killing it.

It's strictly a scheme thing with Joey.

Count me in among the others that thought Porter was finished and that the Dolphins were saddled with yet another bad free agent contract.  However, Joey has proven me wrong and he looks like the Joey Porter that wreaked havoc in Pittsburgh.  He's having a Pro Bowl year.

More like coaches he wouldn't even think about being insuboordinate to or disrespecting in front of the rest of the team.

And he's tearing it up, which makes up for the loss of JT.

Give him credit today for nailing Trent Edwards for that safety.

Now that's some stones coming from a guy with 99 in his name.

Porter could have played better last year in the 4-3 --should have returned that pick against Pittsburgh for a TD and the win-- but his mindset wasn't right.  Nagging injuries and "the wrong scheme" led to a bad year.  Another motivator for Joey is he's now the team leader.  With Zach and Jason gone, it's his show.  Jawing gets this guy going and that wasn't the 54/99 way.  Porter was a beast in the victory over the Bills.

He is a nominee for GMC defensive play of the week.

Other nominees are:
   Baltimore Ravens
   Jonathan Vilma
   Eugene Wilson
   Josh Wilson

Porter has tied his career high in sacks with 10.5.  At the pace he's going he could be considered for NFL Defensive Player of the Year towards the end of the season.
