I was impressed with him tonight. He seems to be comfortable and is improving with every game. Could it be the supporting cast? Or could it be that he is an elite QB in the making?

Discuss....

I think is he is a good quarterback.

Of course, playing with such great weapons can make any quarterback.  Still, his pashing and even his ability to scramble is impressing me more and more.

Shame it looks like he will be blamed if the Pats miss the playoffs.

I didn't see the whole game tonight I only saw the end.  I have one question before I make my call on Cassel.

How many times did he throw the ball more than 20 yards from the line of scrimmage?

You're right.  And keep in mind that this is the same defense that we destroyed in week 3 with the Wildcat Formation.  The Pats defense is getting old and is clearly not what it used to be.

QFT.  Some team desparate for QB help will overpay for Cassel.

He is in a no-win situation.   If he succeeds, it's the system, if he fails, it is him.

But I would think that succeeding would help him land a starting posistion fairly quicker........... Roll Eyes

How?  He's an UFA after this year.  Pats have no claim to him after this season.

Like I actually looked that far ahead.  Ok, some team is going to ridiculously overpay for him.

Too bad Cam isn't still with the Dolphins, Pats might have been able to get a pick anyway.  Hmm.  Maybe KC.  Herm Edwards seems slow enough he might give a pick for a trade of an UFA.

Exactly..... just like when Dan Marino tore his Achillies tendon 5 games into the 1993 season and Scott Mitchell took over and the Dolphins didn't seem to miss a beat.

That offseason, the Detroit Lions gave Mitchell a monster contract, and they saw this bum for who he really was.

I guess that proves Dan Marino was nothing more than a system QB.   Grin Grin Grin

Or maybe Detroit's system sucks.

A QB can't do much if he's got no one to throw the ball to, or doesn't have enough time to throw it, or both.  Marino was accurate and had that quick release.  He more than made up for the lack of pass protection.
