We're seeing a lot of old properties being re-done for new audiences, with updated technology, storylines, and feel.

Recent ones that come to mind are Batman, Star Trek, Bionic Commando, Battlestar Galactica, James Bond, Knight Rider, etc.

What do you think would make a good comeback?

There is a game Jackal for the original Nintendo that was really fun.  It was essentially a top-down shooter where you controlled one of two Jeeps and rescued POWs, while shooting a bunch of other tanks, boats, boats, and guys.  Seeing the way that games like Halo are able to use what is essentially a Jeep (the warthog), I think that if this game were brought to full 3D with a similar concept, that it could be a lot of fun.

Also, Contra seems like a no-brainer.  A Gears-of-War style co-op shooter, with crazy alien bosses, machines and environments.

For movies, there was a shitty movie when I was a kid called Monster Squad.  It was about a monster uprising, and a group of kids stop it.  It's corny, but it was fun.  I bet that could be remade and do really well, maybe with zombies or something.

For TV, there was a very good show called Alien Nation.  It was about aliens coming to earth and mingling with our population.  It focused on a cop and his parter (one alien, one human) and was kind of like a buddy cop-drama, with aliens.   ...sounds weird, but it was really cool.  And I imagine with better technology, they could do a lot of cool things with it.

Damn, I almost forgot about Jackal until you brought it up.  As soon as I saw that picture, a flood of memories came rushing back.  Man, that game was awesome.  I'll tell you what old Nintendo game should get a redux.  Anybody remember "Bionic Commando"?  That game was awesome back in the day, it would be fun too see what game designers could do with it now.

Dude, they are remaking that now.  That's why I made this thread.  They made 2 versions -- a 2D one called Bionic Commando: Rearmed, which is a redux of the original (out now).

2D game

3D version

Smash TV needs a redux...Anyone remember Akari (sp?) Warriors?  Final Fight is another one.  Wild Gunmen is another...jeez I could keep going on and on with this.

Space Hawks for TV.  I'm pretty sure this show existed, but no one I know remembers it except me.

Super Metroid!!! A real deal Metroid game before all this FPS crap screwed them up. Oh and there was this game on NES called the legend of kage. I remember really liking that game and the ability to jump high into trees and cut ninjas in two.

I'd like a cool twilight zone/ outer limits/ tales fom the darkside/ tales from the crypt, type show redone to todays standards.

^^^ I thought about the same movie, but I don't know how it would do unless you kep it a period piece. Gang life just gives such a different picture in today's word.

I would like to see Slap Shot redone.

They almost had it........the Bionic man (6 million Man) was my favorite show back in the 70's as a kid. We have the technology to redo it cool but the writing for the Bionic woman sucked.

Lee Majors was cool as shit.  How about the Fall guy?

I think the biggest problem with the remakes are the actors. they just don't got it. As cheesy as David Hassaslof is, he helped make that ridicolous show. The current one just has no personality.

How about Happy Days or perhaps a variation of the Super Mario Brothers game/tv show?

I heard something about a Warriors remake, but they were going to use real gangs, with real gang members.   ...like the Krips and Bloods were going to send representatives and stuff like that.   I don't know what ever happened to it.

Movie: Clash of the titans.

Game: Blood (PC) Its been over 10 years since the original,  and the second part was an abortion of epic proportions. It would be super sweet if it could be redone with the same feel, gameplay, and setting as the original.

TV show: None. Not really a fan of remakes or udpated versions of them. Keep 'em fresh, I say.

Edit to add:  As with the Punisher, Hulk, Batman etc, I wish the last 3 Star Wars films (prequels) could be redone by someone other than Lucas. Ooooohhhhh the horror!

I'd like to see Zelda as a movie.

There are a ton of comicbooks that should be movies. I'd like to see a Silver Surfer movie.
