is the softest WR in the league. The guy just does not like to get hit. He falls down instead of trying for extra yardage, and alters routes so he doesnt get hit. Its been two years of this glorified kick/punt returner. Its been two years of seeing the same crap. Its not about talent its about heart and toughness and he does not have it! He needs to be returned to his kick/punt returner role and thats it. Let Camarillo and Bess play out there in 2009.

He was our leading receiver this year.  He contributed lots of big plays.

Seriously, I was named the dumbest poster on this board yesterday, but you're giving me a run for my money

He does have a point about Ginn being soft...but not sure anyone expected him to be anything BUT soft. Small-fast deep threat WRs are rarely the bruiser types, and as long as Teddy-G can continue developing as a WR (and I saw definite signs of improvement overall this year), I'm not going to bust his balls too much about it. Hell, I'd prefer he DIDN'T take too many big hits, because I don't believe his body can take too many of them without breaking.

...and boy howdy, are there some good ones in this draft class. 2nd round or 3rd, and I think you can get a quality receiver. If we spend one of our two second rounders on one, we could land a Hakeem Nicks from North Carolina, or a Kenny Britt from Rutgers. If we spend the earlier of the two second rounders, we could even wish for a Jeremy Maclin out of Mizzou.

Want to wait on a WR? I'll bet you can get Darius Passmore from Marshall in round 4 this year, and though he needs to add a little meat (6'3" 195 lbs), he is tall, runs a 4.4, and has excellent hands and ability to catch the ball in traffic. Maybe Mohamed Massaquoi from Georgia (6'2, 203 lbs) in round 4 as well.

I really hope either the 49ers or Dolphins get either Maclin or Nicks...I really like both those receivers, and wouldn't mind being able to cheer for one of them next season. Wink

Funny you mentioned Nicks.  When I saw the ESPN ticker say he was going pro, I started salivating over the possibilities of him being in aqua and orange.  The guy is not a Randy Moss, but his size is up there.  He is fast, runs great routes, is a playmaker, and is not afraid of going over the middle and taking a hit.  All this guy did was break every school record at UNC for receiving yards and TD's.

You forgot to add that he may have the best wide receiver name ever.

He weighs about a buck 60.

Who does?

Isn't that what coaches teach in the NFL.  Get what you can get & then get down.  Don't take the extra hit(s) because that leads to injuries or fumbles.

NFLJunkie is that you?

MiamiE is mostly right in his first post on this thread, but it doesn't mean Ginn is useless.  He is more of a deep threat guy on a team that isn't designed to go deep.  In my mind, Ginn is a different player in a situation where you have a big arm QB and some reasonable protection.  We don't have that right now but you can see that Henne and our O-line improvements are going that direction.

With that said, Ginn should have never been drafted where he was or anywhere close to it.  He will always take some hits for that and he is overpaid because of it.  In the NFL, he isn't even all that great of a return guy.  He makes a decent number 2 or 3 receiver.

Perhaps we can get someone who is Andre Johnson like and give Henne a little more time for things to line up for his success and we will really have something to cheer about.

Yeah, Passmore is a good one, no doubt.

I'm waiting for the 2010 draft, when Notre Dame WR Golden Tate comes out. I've loved that name since he was in HS. He is an amazing young WR too...over 1000 yards and 10 TDs for the Irish as a sophomore this year. The same year Golden Tate came out of HS, there was a very highly rated prep QB that I was praying would go to the same school as Tate, but Willie Korn went to Clemson instead. Can you imagine a few years of "Willie Korn to Golden Tate" connections?  Sweeeeet!!

You should check some of the post history about Ginn on this website as a lot of people agree with you.
