Some of these guys should definitely be on the Dolphins radar.  Who would you like to see the Dolphins pick up and why?
Nnamdi Asomugha- CB Oakland

Antonio Bryant- WR Tampa Bay

Jordan Gross- OT Carolina

Albert Haynesworth- DT Tennessee

TJ Houshmandzadeh- WR Cincinnati

Brandon Jacobs- RB NY Giants

Jermaine Phillips- SS Tampa Bay

Darren Sproles- RB San Diego

Of all those players, I would love to see Asomugha the most in teal/orange. A true shut-down corner. It would address a major need of our team.

Nnamdi Asomugha- CB Oakland

Will get franchised or a new contract.

Albert Haynesworth- DT Tennessee

Jermaine Phillips- SS Tampa Bay

The Bucs have Piscitelli waiting to step in, so if the Bucs can't reach a deal with Phillips, I think he's gone. I.e. they probably won't franchise him.

Brandon Jacobs- RB NY Giants
Darren Sproles- RB San Diego

I'd rather see Jacobs here than Sproles. A huge bruising back with good speed...

Phillips has a lot of upside and downside

upside: veteran who plays at a high level...brings the wood to WR going over the middle

downside:  Often injured...doesn't wrap up on his tackles because he's always looking for that "big hit"...I think we could do without him

Of all those players, I would love to see Asomugha the most in teal/orange. A true shut-down corner. It would address a major need of our team.

Of course any of us would love to have him on our team...but I have to agree with Tommy that it isn't likely

Quote
Albert Haynesworth- DT Tennessee

It would be nice to have him, but it isn't a need for us...there are a ton of late round DT in the draft that have his size and strength

Quote
Brandon Jacobs- RB NY Giants

Although not a need of ours, how sweet would it be to have Jacobs, Brown, and Ricky in the same backfield?  We will have the cap room for it, but I don't think it's likely.

Quote
TJ Houshmandzadeh- WR Cincinnati

I know this isn't a popular choice with most on this board, but I wouldn't be unhappy with Housh on the phins...The guy is only 31 and we could get at least 3-4 good years out of him before his skills start to go downhill...we wouldn't have to worry about a stud WR until next years draft, or if there is one in the late rounds this year, he could mentor under him like Willford was supposed to do this year.

last time i checked our starting dt is like 80 years old  Grin

additional starters for both sides of the line should be priority #1 with this team. after seeing the stable of linebackers that pitt rolls out, we could probably use some upgrades there too.

being able to physically dominate the line of scrimmage will put you in the top tier of teams in this league. peter king had this to say after the games this weekend:

"For years, Andy Reid and Tom Heckert have gotten razzed for taking so many offensive and defensive linemen high in drafts. Well, the strategy of loading up on the Big Uglies has won the Eagles a trip to the NFC Championship. Patterson and Bunkley, picked in the first round of the 2005 and '06 drafts, respectively, provided the bedrock for the Eagles' tremendous run-stopping in the fourth quarter, eliminating all chances of the Giants getting back in the game after falling behind 20-11."

Albert Haynesworth will not be franchised, according to Tennessee news sources..... he will, however, command big bucks on the open market.

Asomugha is good, but good teams don't overpay for corners.  Jacobs and Williams would look good in the backfield.  just have to find a suitor for Brown and his 9 million  dollar salary.

Nnamdi Asomugha- CB Oakland

Crazy Al Davis will slap him with the franchise tag.

Quote
Antonio Bryant- WR Tampa Bay

Parcells was the one who sent Antonio Bryant packing during his days in Dallas.  I doubt he comes here.

Quote
Jordan Gross- OT Carolina

He will either get franchised or re-signed by the Panthers.

Quote
Albert Haynesworth- DT Tennessee

A new contract is already in the works in Nashville.  I'm betting Haynesworth stays.

Quote
TJ Houshmandzadeh- WR Cincinnati

32 years old, and probably looking for one last big payday.  The Dolphins are better off finding another youg WR late in the Draft.

Quote
Brandon Jacobs- RB NY Giants

The Giants would be foolish to let him walk.  He'll be back in New York.

Quote
Jermaine Phillips- SS Tampa Bay

The Dolphins will likely re-sign Yeremiah Bell, so Phillips is out of the equation.

Quote
Darren Sproles- RB San Diego

This regime traded away Lorenzo Booker.  Why would they sign a guy who is shorter than Booker was?

Here's an article that discusses more possible free agents for the Dolphins.  There are quite a few intriguing options out there.  I'm glad the Tuna is on this team.

Last thing we need is another Back right now........although Jacobs is a Tank.

Of that list if we had anyway of scoring Nnamdi Asomugha, I'd be all over that. But I doubt it will happen. Jordon Cross is another nice option, we had some injuries on the OT line , we can never have enough Talent there.

Sproles/Jacobs would definitely be an upgrade over Patrick Cobbs/Ronnie Brown, but there are other areas of need that are more pressing.

As for Asomugha, I can't see Al Davis the cheap ass franchising him.

I love how you assume that, if we were to bring in another back, Ronnie Brown would be the one to go.  I'm certain they'd dismiss pothead long before they give up on their #2 overall pick. Roll Eyes

we're more than fine with the backs currently on the roster. an upgrade is needed on the interior of the o line in order to open up more space against the better d lines.

Buguh?  Huh

The Al Davis that had 4 of the top 25 highest paid players in the NFL on his roster in 2008 (Still has 3) Traded for, then Paid a 7 year 70 million contract ($24.5 million guaranteed) to Deangelo Hall....Already used the exclusive franchise player on Nnamdi Asomugha last year....Al Davis the man that loves and values DB,s,Wr's,and QB's that can throw the Deep ball over anything else.....

I honestly don't see us going after Haynesworth,Tommie Harris,or Tank Johnson....Haynesworth can't be franchised,he had it written into his franchised contract last year, that he can't be franchised...I'm not sure if that includes any other tags....I Think Haynesworth too much $$$,and it would be hard to lure him t playing 3-4 NT...Tommie Harris is probably the same way...(He might get franchised)..Tank Johnson...I'm not sure if the front office would like to take on the guy with a past....Tank may want to go back to a 4-3 defense....

I think Dolfan619 pretty much had the right anlysis..
