The person that suffers most from Ronnie Browns injury is...

Ricky Williams.

Back in the spotlight which he clearly detests. He's gonna need all the yoga meditation in the world these next few weeks.

I'm not expecting 150 yard games from Ricky like he was in his prime and he has lost a half a step. For us to think that Ricky can carry the load in the backfield is crazy. Ricky at this point is a fine complimentary player.

No sense in picking up Edgerrin James because he is shot.

Don't put too much expectation on Ricky.

We'll see what happens.  This is only one game, and it was against a horrible run defense, to boot.  He has a few more games like this and he'll make a believer out of me.

I'm praying he doesn't relapse and take another toke, or his football career is finished.

Even if he doesn't return to 2002 form, he is still better than Ronnie Brown.

You're right Tommy. I don't see Ricky putting a string of games together like this. He's older.

I think that Williams got tired of the press asking him dumb questions this week. Questions such as, do you think that you can fill in for Ronnie Brown? According to the Sun-Sentinel, he was pretty testy this week. Can you do it for a game. Well, it made the Ricktster mad and he went off.

Teams are going to still stack the box against Ricky and dare Henne to beat them. It's time to activate Patrick Turner and just tell him and Ginn to just run down the field as decoys.

tubba,

If Ricky has to run the ball OVER 20 times a game, we are in trouble and he is gonna wear out. He's an old school back that delivers blows.

It's like a pitcher in MLB. The older they get, they monitor their pitch count. Miami needs to make sure they have a balance between him and Hilliard.

I think that we are going to see less Wildcat and more power running football from Miami until the end of the season.

I agree there, because both backs are big and physical.  Both also have a burst of speed once they get into the open field.

Am I the only one who was getting really annoyed with the Talking Heads (tm) on NFL Network claiming that Ricky had to be "like the Ricky Williams in New Orleans" (before, during and after the game)?

Ricky had his best year in Miami ('02). Why bring New Orleans into the mix?

Looking back, I still cannot believe Wannadouche ran Ricky 775 times in two years ('02 and '03). That's insane. Considering that backs rarely "survive" getting over 370 carries in a single season ("the curse of 370")... wow.

Maybe, just maybe, all this time off from football has given Ricky a new lease on his career.

not trying to start shit....but that's a total contradiction.....how do you have a "power running game" with limiting a running back carries...or "pitch count?".....backs at his age "wear down" because they have been doing it for so long....my point is he's had substantial time off and can still produce....why not take advantage of it?....ricky williams is a rare type of talent that when healthy and FOCUSED is an elite running back.....check the numbers if you dont believe me....we all know about his break out years in 2002 and 2003.....but keep in mind since then he's either suspended or split time and still put up solid numbers at the running back position

tubba,

Heres my point. He did that when he was 25 NOT 32. Yes, he takes care of his body. He's always done that.  He was into yoga and vegetarian stuff when he ran for all of those yards when Wanny was coach. The sports writers even wrote about him going to the restroom and free radicals back then.

When you get older, it takes longer for you to recover. You can still have a power running game with two backs. One back is not realistic anymore because the game is faster.

Okay, lets compare baseball. At one time, the Marlins had the best power rotation in baseball with A.J. Burnett, Alex Fernandez and lets not forget Josh Beckett who was a prospect. Burnett blew out his arm and needed the TJ surgery and so did Fernandez. I don't care how powerful a pitcher is, you still have to monitor his pitch count.

Same with a running back. It's proven in the modern NFL that you can't have running backs carrying the football 30 times a game anymore because they wear down quickly especially if you don't have a running game because if the safety crowds the box, that means he's gonna take more hits.

If Ricky hits around 20 then he's okay but if you're asking Ricky, like Wannstedt did, to tote the mail close to 30 carries, Miami is treading thin water. Hillard needs at least 10-15 carries a game just to keep Ricky fresh.

....i like where your head's at with the comparision.....but you really can't compare a running back to a pitcher...your original post was about how ricky has lost a step and a half and how he's not the back he once was...no shit, his carries went down 60%

tubba,

Did you hear the latest on why Ricky wasn't in the game carrying the ball at the end. The Dolphins won't talk about it but he suffered an injury. Don
''t know what it is at this point.
