It's clear that after throwing Pat White to the wolves yesterday that were wearing black and gold, he should have realized that Sparano is setting him up for a fall. He'll never quarterback for the Miami Dolphins in a regular season game again. You can automatically write the Dolphins QB depth chart next year with Thigpen as a backup or if Henne doesn't progress, as starter.

From the home office in Westminster, Colorado, Pat White should,

1. Realize that the Dolphins parted ways with him yesterday. He was put in TO fail!

2. Don't pretend that he will ever start for Miami.

3. Realize that he has to at least get to 205 pound to play quarterback or at least get to 210. Start drinking shakes. Become a dual threat like the original slash Kordell Stewart.

4. Go play for a West Coast offense type of team. He's 6'0 and has a hard time seeing over the defense (Montana was 6'0 but he was a master of picking up throwing lanes).

5. Hire a private conditioning and throwing coach in the off season.

6. Play good in next seasons exhibition games so that some team will take a risk and do a trade with Miami.

I don't see White being with Miami next year. there are teams that need second string QB's and I think that Miami will try to trade him.

Nice post...and I agree that Pat is likely done with Miami. I also agree that his best fit will be in a WCO, but I'm also pretty sure he isn't even qualified to do that.

That said, I really don't think "any" team in the NFL would want Pat White as their second string QB at this point. I see a release being possible, but not a trade for anything worth trading for.

After seeing White try to throw yesterday, my prediction of him getting to run complete series next year looks bleak.  I don't agree that he was set up to fail, however.  The team eased him into game, but he was unable to complete a pass.

I have to agree with Dave. As much as I never liked the pick of White to play QB, the Fins brass apparently did. So I really doubt they were setting him up to fail.

By setting him up to fail, they basically would be admitting failure and in essence saying they are no better modified to add : only slightly better (since they may have hit on one but failed at one) at evaluating a QB to grab in the 2nd round than Mueller was (see Beck, John), and over reached for White. I'd think if anything, they wanted White to turn out to be a stud, because people were scratching their heads with the pick. They wanted to look like geniuses who knew something everyone else didn't.

Modified to add- as I've said all along, he should play another position. If he was converted to a WR or a RB, with the added ability to throw a pass, he'd be an asset. If they did that now, it would also be admitting failure.

I don't see him playing ANY position until he bulks up.

Agreed. That's what I said to Lil B on draft day "They're going to ask him to bulk up and play RB, so he can run the Wildcat package".

I know that. I was just comparing the White pick to the Beck pick. I corrected it for ya.

Pat White could work out if he could actually complete a 4 yard pass without underthrowing the receiver. He is very fast and mobile, but his effectiveness will depend upon his ability to complete basic passes and find open receivers. If he can't, he has no future.
