I agree with Dave on all the stays and goes. Biggest question for me is Cobbs. He looked good in extremely limited action -- he only saw 6 carries. Half that of last year. Next year will be his 5th. I think there's a risk he's just not going to develop much more. I'm convinced we'll draft someone to push him.

Gotta admit, I don't think our coordinators have earned their keep this year. I think they'll both stay, though.

Not a big fan of the way our o-line has performed, either. Hopefully, it's due to DeGuglielmo being in his first year with the team... but I'm not sold on line coaches who've never played college or pro ball. The O line did a good job run blocking on paper (fewest tackles for losses, second best on "short" downs), but pass protection was shaky and run blocking NEVER made it to the second level. The blocking schemes, especially down the stretch, were... different.

I wonder if this had anything to do with the personnel he had to work with? The line seemed to be a patchwork down the stretch. A lot of people talked about the depth and versatility of the players. Maybe it wasn't as deep and the players weren't as versatile as everybody thought.

Or it could be Henne's fault. I mean, someone has to make a change when the blocking scheme is a HORRIBLE match for the defensive look. I know it's unfair to look at a few single plays considering how many snaps there are in a whole season, but I remember one play this past weekend where the whole O line was set to shift to the right. That's fine and all, but the defense on the left was lined up on the inside shoulders of our linemen, so Long had to move over 1.5 gaps before he could even start blocking. Needless to say, he never even TOUCHED his guy. Ugly, ugly play. Someone's gotta step up and say "uhmm.. guys... this isn't gonna work".

I think Taylor's touch and go, because he and Porter are both weakside linebackers.  I don't think Taylor loved covering linebackers, and I know he didn't like coming off the field on 3rd downs.

Fasano - Goes

I'm not saying he won't, but what are we going to do about a tight end? Haynos is a major project still. He has potential, but needs a lot of work. Sperry?

We're already weak at tight end. If you want to toss our best guy, I'm just wondering what replacement you have in mind...

Free agency.  At least one of these guys will be available:  Owen Daniels, Tony Scheffler, Bo Scaife, Ben Watson.  I think any one of those guys is an improvement from Fasano.

Owen Daniels is a restricted FA, providing a new CBA doesn't suddenly pop into existence, and recovering from his third ACL tear. The latter will be true regardless, of course. Daniels also fought vigorously to become the highest paid TE in football and reportedly still wants a contract at that level. Given his knees, I'm not convinced. Anyway, the Texans are almost certainly going to sign him to a tender at the 1st + 3rd level (meaning those are the picks it would cost us to get him).

Scheffler wants out of Denver, but will also be a restricted free agent in an uncapped year. That's gonna cost us draft picks. Maybe not a first+third, but probably at least a second rounder.

Bo Scaife is yet another victim of an uncapped year, not having enough years accrued. The Titans don't seem completely sold on him, but with an aging Crumpler the only real alternative, he'll at least get signed to a tender at some level. I'd guess a second round pick would be required.

Ben Watson is the only true free agent on your list.

For some reason I was wondering whatever happened to that poster who made his own sig line image that had John Beck, Ted Ginn, and some other bum as "AFC Pro-Bowl Starters". Good call!

Um ... last I checked the center called the blocking schemes. Did they give that duty to Henne?

I have no idea who calls the blocking scheme for the 'phins and to what extent that player can change it. Clearly, the center cannot completely change scheme, since that would effectively change the play for the RB also (on a running play). Such a change would have to be audibled by the quarterback.

Coaching:

Henning- Goes.  We need more creativity in this offense
Pasqualoni- Stays for now.  I like his style of multiple fronts to confuse offenses.  Give him another year and some pass rush and safety help and see what he can do.

Offense:

Pennington- Goes, although I'd love to have him as QB Coach
Ginn- Get him the fuck outta here!!!!
Brown- Stays.  Like it or not he's the best back we've got
Fasano- Goes unless they can't find an upgrade at TE.
Hilliard- Stays.  He's got a good combo of power and speed.  Could end up starting if and when Ricky and Ronnie are gone.
Cobbs- Stays.  Need a change of pace back.

Defense

Taylor- Stays one more year.  Not a lot of gas left in the tank
Wilson- Get him the fuck outta here!!!!!
Jason Allen- Stays if he's willing to take a pay cut.  If not, goes.
Torbor- Goes.  They need some serious upgrades at all LB positions except for Wake
Soliai- Stays only if they don't draft a NT and bring back Jason Ferguson
Joey Porter- Goes.  He's in decline.
Akin Ayodele- Goes.  He's nothing more than serviceable and we need playmakers against the run.

I'm not going to go down each one, because the only one I can say with any conviction  of not coming back is Pennington....I'll comment on a few things....

Dan Henning is 67,I can't see him being fired,he might retire..I remember reading when the Irish Tuna Coalition was formed, they had the guy on staff they were grooming to replace Henning..I TOTTALLY DISAGREE with Tommy, We don't need  more creativity, Enough Cutesy,Trick Play.Smoke and mirrors...We need to be able to run better Fundamental Offense....

Paul Pasqualoni,I could see him leaving, more than Fired...

I don't see the firestorm,in the media or from the Fans for the team to sack ether of them...

The Front office Doesn't like to admit their mistakes...Remember Earnest Wilford, made it pretty much all the way through Training camp last year before being cut. They traded Satlele after they signed Grove (Satele wasn't their mistake)...Who'd Thought Jason Allen would even still be on this team?

Jason Taylor - (I'm sort of anti JT, anymore) It's Miami or it's over....He didn't go play for the Pats last year, and I can't see anyone banging down his door....Like it or not Joey with a Bad Wheel had more sacks than Jason...Jason hasn't had Double digit sacks since his Defensive player of the year,His game is Speed and Leverage..The Bum Shoulder kills the leverage part, and he's looking sluggish....His Future IMO is tied to Porter...

As much as I hate Porter, and Crowder They both have Value....Porter when he was Healthy put up 17.5 sacks in 08...Porter still has something left in his tank,if he stays Taylor out in the Cold...Crowder sucks, but Can Play OLB,and ILB..Since we already pissed the money away resigning him, He's at least Depth....
