Just saw Hoodie's post in Around the NFL and confirmed it on the Miami Herald.

Who replaces him?  The media is saying former Giants DC Bill Sheridan, former Pats DC Romeo Crennel, and former Jets head coach Al Groh are likely candidates.  All of which have connections to The Tuna.  And if Crennel or Groh get hired as DC, Sheridan can step in and be the LB coach, as he's got a backround in it.

Wow.  Surprising, but good, I guess.  This current team doesn't wait around with the status quo.

^^^^^

Agreed, this regime doesn't fuck around.  They wasted no time cleaning house after that disaster of a 1-15 season, and got rid of Pasqualoni after his unit took several steps back from the year before.  If I was DB coach Todd Bowles, I'd be nervous..... VERY nervous.

Now get rid of Henning.  His stupid play calling drove me crazy all season long.

Have to agree there.  Let's get someone who knows when to run and when to pass.  Cut out the gimmicks and let's just attack in the traditional way.

I would like to have seen Henning replaced as well.

I thought Henning would be gone & Pasqualoni would stay. This surprised me a little.

I think Henning should go as well...the play calling this season has definitely been one of Miami's weaknesses.

A little surprised about Pasqualoni though...I thought the issues on D were tied more to personnel than to schemes and preparation.

Dan Henning isn't as aggressive as I would like, particularly early in games, but he is an outstanding game planner.  I feel he is trying to do everything he can to make up for our deficiencies in personnel.

In essence, I am satisfied with Henning and I think our front office is as well.  If our personnel changes and he doesn't then I will be the first to turn on him, but until then I just don't see anyone doing better with the players we have.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul Pasqualoni may have been a victim of circumstances to some degree.  However, there were several times (more than normal) that our players had trouble lining up and his blitz packages were largely ineffective.  His departure makes more sense to me.  He just doesn't seem to be the right guy for what we are trying to do.

Henning found a way to win when we had sub-par talent and basically revolutionized the league by introducing the Wildcat formation.  Now practically every team uses some form of Wildcat in their game plan.

I thought the defense improved as the season went on, but the last 3 games, the defense didn't show up until halftime.  That tells me he is a bad game-planner but makes good halftime adjustments.

I know we cover it every time this is brought up, but should Henning really get credit for introducing the Wild Cat formation? By all accounts, it was David Lee all the way.

Is he really?  We all know how his defense got to be so good.
