http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/18/dolphins-home-gets-another-new-name/

As the Miami Dolphins prepare to host yet another Super Bowl, the venue is getting yet another new name.

Terry Lefton of SportsBusiness Daily reports that the team will announce on Wednesday that Sun Life Financial has purchased the naming rights to the stadium previously known as Joe Robbie Stadium, Pro Player Park, Pro Player Stadium, Dolphins Stadium, Dolphin Stadium, and Land Shark Stadium.

The five-year deal will pay out roughly $7.5 million per year.

The prior arrangement with Land Shark Lager was due to expire before the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl; thus, the name of the place where the two prime postseason games will be played immediately will become Sun Life Stadium.

^^^ I agree...especially the one where they want to change the band name to "KC and the Sun Life Band."

Completely and utterly horrible.

I actually think that "Sun Life" is about as fitting for a Miami stadium as any corporate sponsor we might be able to line up. After all, we do live our life in the Sun down here... It's gotta be better than Landshark Stadium, anyway.

It's the recency of the name changes that even I'm upset about. Every year this freaking stadium is called something different.

All in favor of simply calling it "Joe Robbie Stadium" from here on out say "I".

No surprise here. When they made the Landshark deal (which was publicized as a marketing deal and not a naming deal), they said it was only for a year, so you knew something else was gonna happen.

I don't really care so much about this.  You shouldn't rename Soldier Field or Fenway Park, but there's not a lot of history with this new stadium.  If it helps them pay for renovations and stuff, I don't care.

A stadium naming deal should never be a 1 year deal.  It takes 1 year for people to get use to the new name.  I blame Stephen Ross for succumbing to Jimmy Buffett's fickle desires.  Boo.

Maybe now they'll stop trying to shove that terrible Fins TD song down our throats.

I could care less what the name is. To me and all my friends we still refer to the Magic's home as "The Arena" and it has had a corporate name for several years. The name doesn't affect me in any way.

I doubt that. Fins is here to stay unfortunately.
