ESPN hires the women to dress like that.  Lets face it neither Strorm nor Andrews was hired were hired for their knowelge of sports.

They serve two roles and two roles only:

1. Appease female sports fans so they won't bitch that ESPN is sexist cause it only has male sportcasters.

2. Be eye candy for male sports fans.

When one of their own comments on the second, it defeats the first role.  Particularly post-Andrews tapes, in order to keep the females happy they need to come down hard on anyone who comments about eye candy role.

You are a sexist (taking the buddha role since she doesn't pop into these threads).

I don't think Erin Andrews,is the same league in the sense of Hannah Storm..Hannah Storm spent how many years at NBC sports, then went to the early show, before joining ESPN...Erin Andrews has been around what 5 years? Hannah Storm Already proved herself, to be "taken seriously in the field of journalism" (especially whenwe're talking about hosting sportscenter...I'm not needing Edward R.Murrow Awards Winners to tell me the score of the Dolphins Jets game....)

I think she's earned the right to wear what she wants, as long as the It's ok with the higher ups....

Revealing? She has on long sleeves, a non-plunging neckline, and boots. Skirts above the knee have been worn since the sixties. You sir are living in a past generation if you think that is reveling. There is not a thing wrong with that outfit.
I was actually speaking more to Erin Andrews, not Hannah Storm.

Hannah Storm's outfit was not so much "revealing" as it was "trashy and inappropriate."  Miniskirts may have been around since the '60s, and knee-high boots may have been around even longer, but wear them both together and the result is unprofessional.

I suppose you advocate sleeping in separate beds just like Lucy & Ricky also?
Seriously, are you completely unable to make a distinction between "this is what is acceptable in the workplace" and "this is what is acceptable in your personal life"?  For example, I'm not going to be criticizing Storm for wearing this:

...even though that's a far racier outfit, because it seems rather apparent that she's not actually working at the time.  If she wants to wear transparent latex catsuits on her own time, more power to her.  But when she's performing her "I'm a serious newswoman!" role, she should attempt to dress the part.

You seem to want to boil everything down to a ridiculous dichotomy of "well if you think that she shouldn't wear a see-through blouse at work, then I guess you also think people should always keep their clothes on when they have sex!"  It's slightly more nuanced than that.

Joe if you think that's a mini skirt, you haven't been paying attention on the FAU campus

That isn't a miniskirt first off. Second, have you ever lived in the Northeast? From my memory it was very common for women to have knee high boots with a skit as work attire, especially in the winter months. You think the outfit is not meant for the workplace, but according to ESPN execs (and apparently Disney since they are the parent) and most of us in this thread you and Kornheiser are in a very conservative minority.

As for the rest, I was taking it to an extreme.

Geez I think some of you guy's are taking Sportscenter WAY too seriously...If she really wanted to be considered a "Serious  newswoman"" WTF is she doing on Sportscenter? Why wouldn't she have stayed at CNN,or When she Left hosting the CBS morning show, went to the News department...Nope, she went to ESPN...

Have you ever been to NYC? I go to NYC once a week, and deal with females ALL THE TIME that wear knee high boots and skirts.

Be honest. If you saw another woman her age dressed like this, what would you think?
That outfit is an eyesore, and is not befitting for a professional to wear at her job who is 20 years younger.
It is obvious that Erin was brought in primarily for eyecandy, but not Storm. Storm is a news anchor, not a sideline show. Would you ever expect Katie Couric or any other female anchor to dress like this? The answer is no. There are many ways she could have attired herself that would have been both professional and still exuded her femininity and a little sex appeal.
This outfit is neither professional or sexy.
Did you see the red dress, lower neckline and matching high heels she busted out after Tony's suspension? This woman gives the impression that she is trying to compete with younger women whom are far beneath her profession wise.

I didn't see anything unflattering about Hannah's outfit at all, and if I saw another woman her age wearing it... oh, wait...I do every day.

I think this whole thing is pretty ridiculous.

I think that unless Kornheiser...

A) wants other ESPN personalities to comment on his baldness/ugliness/1940's wardrobe, or
B) Leaves ESPN to go work for the Style Network

...then he should just keep his pie hole closed about other folks' choices in apparel and let those apparel-questionable employees be counseled by their manager/employer.

Seriously? I see and deal with women day in and day out dressed like this. And women who are anywhere from 25-55! Seriously. Go to NYC and take a look around.  Check that- go to any major metropolitan area and take a look around!

Go to Congress and look around.  I guarantee you'll see nothing of the sort.

Professionalism is professionalism.  I don't think that Hannah Storm's level of dress (as a SportsCenter anchor) should be anything below what you would expect from female anchors at other news organizations.  (That's certainly true of the men.)

Now, to be fair, you do have people like Deion Sanders and Michael Irvin who also wear questionable ensembles with regularity.  However, I humbly submit that if one has to cite Deion and Irvin as examples, one has already lost the argument.

Women sportscasters can wear whatever they want, so long as they know what they are talking about.  Obviously, ESPN does not have a problem with the way they dress or they would have a policy against it.  If ESPN does have a policy against criticizing other employees, then they were right to suspend him.  If you have a policy, you need to enforce it.

So just what is a woman over 40 supposed to wear?  A mumu?  Get over it guys.  If you got it, flaunt it.

Just because people on the street wear something does not mean it is alright for even occasion. Your use of examples is hilarious. This country has a notorious problem of people wearing innapropriate outfits for their jobs, age, weight, height, skin tone, etc. People daily attire themselves in outfits and accoutrements that are not flattering and in some cases downright ugly. But with our PC society you cannot say anything for fear of violating someones right to look like an assclown.
She is an anchorwoman on a national tv network. She can and should be held to the same standards as other anchorwomen who also appear on a nationally televised network. Reading the cue cards with news updates is the same wether it is ESPN or CBS. The only difference is content.
