Do you get along with your siblings? are you close?

The last week or so,Alot of friends and coworkers have talked to me about their siblings.My Two best friends,Brother and sister,best friends extremely close now.They hated eachother growing up,I think she beat him mercilessly growing up.Once they got old enough,they both rebelled against their Dad,which brought them together.They are all somewhat close now,but you can tell they all care about eachother....

My Family was fractured quite early, a custody battle between my parents,probably exposed the fractures that were always there..My Two sisters basically took my Dad's side,My brother,and when I was old enough to decide to Mom's side.For awhile I chalked it up to momma's Boys,and daddy's little girls,but Always felt like there was more too it.My dad had money(or the illusion of it),nice cars,the big house,etc,etc. At his house ,it would only be a special occasion could I actually sit on the couch...god forbid If I actually farted in the same room.So I generally wasn't happy at my Dad's.

Today,It still feels a little like Us versus them....Both my sisters live with in 100 miles of me...My oldest sister (who I told to go Fuckherself in  August),,I've not seen in 2 years.My other sister, I saw her 3 times in the past year,mainly because I gave her a bunch of Family heirloom furniture.They don't have a clue what I like, what I do,they really don't know me...I figure after Mom dies, I'll disappear till the day I get a call to tell me that one of my sisters has died.....

Sorry I didn't mean to babble here....I just sort of feel guilty I'm not closer to them,at the same time...I really quit caring....

B, some people just are not compatible, even if they are related.  I feel that I am very lucky because my husband and I get along great with both our families.  Most people I know don't get along with someone or another in their family.

Hey B don't feel bad I have a brother who lives 15 min. from me and we see each other once a year (Christmas)!! It's not that we don't get along his old lady hates me. Since she keeps his balls in a jar, he can't associate with me. If we happen to run into each other we will talk for hours if she doesn't have a set time for him to be home!! (he can't let her know)

All 6 of my brothers and sisters passed away on the same night during my childhood. The doctor said it was a pretty bizarre coincidence to have 6 kids all choke to death on lincoln logs, but I chalked it up to natural causes.

They were all naturally pissing me off anyway...

I have no siblings as I was a medical accident myself. Sometimes I wish I did, but I did learn a lot of independence by being an only child. The downside is that I have had issues with forming a bond with people.

I have 4 siblings:

I keep in touch in some form with all of them.  Since they're all much older, I sometimes keep in touch with their kids more than them.  Overall, we get along pretty well.  Strangely, I'm closer with the 2 that live out of state.

I posted here about it once but I can't find it. Anyhow NO. I have 1 sister and I moved as far away from her as I could. I get pissed when I see my boys fight. I'd do anything for a brother.

I am the middle of three brothers.  We are all similarly aged.

We've always been competitive and fighting.  However, we still support each other as brothers.

We aren't really close now, because I'm in Boston for college, my younger brother is down in NC, and my older brother is on the opposite side of Boston.

But I know we love each other.  Even though we jest, tease, and make fun of each other a lot.

My little sister and I are almost 8 years apart. When we were younger she annoyed the hell out of me and we weren't close. Now that we're older we're closer. We don't really hang out, but we go to the movies every now and then together. My mom always wants me to take her clubbing. Not sure what that is all about.

I have 1 brother and 2 sisters that I am very close with. We are all within 5 years of age and we all live within 15 minutes of one another. As kids we all fought like cats and dogs but as adults we are all very close. We tease and harass each other as often as we can and we enjoy each others company. They are all truly my best friends and I owuld have it no other way. My wife however has 1 brother and 1 sister and they are not all that close. We love to get together we just do not do it all that often and I am not really sure as to why.
