We wasted many series on this guy last year. I seriously hope we don't do that again. I'm sure they wanted him to bulk up so he could run the ball but the bigger problem was he couldn't even complete a pass!!

If that were to happen I'm pretty sure Miami would keep him.

True.  But the idea that another team is going to give you a 2nd round pick for him as it currently stands is about as likely as someone giving the Giants a second round pick for Sorgi.

Thats why the Trifecta might be trying to Bolster his standing.  Just saying.  But Bill Parcells is not going to dump a second round pick after his first Rookie year without one more shot or a much higher draft pick. Thigpen really came on in that short amount time though so its going to be interesting anyway you look at it.

Bostering his standing gets you a 6th or a 7th.  Right now he isn't worth a bag of bats.

Don't look now, but Beck actually has a chance at being the number 2 QB in Baltimore this year.

Unless he's undergone a large amount of hypnotherapy ("don't stare at those headlights, Bambi!"), I still don't see any chance of him becoming a regular starting QB in the NFL. What that article didn't translate properly was the thought that crossed Cameron's mind immediately after saying "John and Troy know they're competing." I am fairly certain that thought was "Dear Lord, if Flacco goes down, we are soooooo fucked."

You're being too hard on Beck.  He was given the impossible task of being the QB of a minimally talented very poorly coached team as a rookie.  Not sure even Dan Marino wouldn't have had that deer in the headlights look.  Beck will never be a great QB, but I still believe he'll be a solid QB at some point in his career and I was sad to see him go.  If I had to choose today between Beck and White, I would choose Beck.  Still don't know why we ever picked White, we already have the best wildcat trigger man in the NFL.

Not only that but by the time he got his first start the Dolphins were already 0-9.  At that point the team had given up. Along with that the best Dolphin wide reciever to start the 2007 season was at that point wearing a Charger uniform by the time Beck took the field.  He actually had a decent game week 17 after BP lit a fire in the team and guys were playing to be in the league the next year.

Beck may never be great but don't judge him based on how he did at the end of 2007.

"The NFL" was too hard on Beck...I'm just calling it as I see it.

If I had to choose today between Beck and White, I would choose Beck.

If I had to choose today between Pat White and an 80 year old woman with palsy, White would probably still come out on the short end of the stick. If you could tell me any of the 32 starting QBs in the NFL that you "wouldn't" take before Beck, then we've got a conversation. Wink

Jason Campbell, Matt Moore, Seneca Wallace (depending on how you look at him as a starter), Brady Quinn (kinda funny really and was a starter last year), possibly Alex Smith and maybe even Josh Freeman depending on how this year starts to shape up.

I might even throw in a few other declining players because of Beck's remaining upside (like Gerrard and the guy who left Carolina and went to the Browns (can't recall his name at the moment).

Also, to get back on topic...

If Pat White could actually do something in the passing game I think he has a chance to be amazing.  Unfortunately with what we saw last year (not completing a pass), it is a big if for all of us fans.  But it isn't such a big if for the coaches who see him daily.

It was rediculous how quick the D-ends/OLBs were getting to him last year.  It seemed like every snap White took, Smiley or Long would whiff on a block.  Forget the four second rule to getting rid of the ball, the guy had about 2 seconds.  Give the guy a little time and he could be a totally different story.  The good news is our O-line should be better this year and I wouldn't be shocked if he looked really good in preseason.

Don't get me wrong, I am not endorsing White.  But I would prefer an honest effort before moving on.  The bad thing for White is that I have seen enough of Thigpen (in KC) to endorse him.  The good thing for White is that my endorsement means pretty much zilch.

No disrespect, Doc, but I think you are on serious hallucinogens or something...I can't see Beck being better than "any" of those QBs, including Matt Moore (who I believe to be the worst of that group). As active as my imagination is, I just can't see Beck ever turning into a legitimate starting QB in the NFL. If he does, I'll be glad to adjust my opinion in that regard, but until he does...all I hear from the Beck supporters sounds like melancholy homerism. Wink

And to get back on topic as well, I'd like to see White actually complete a pass before I think of him as an actual QB.

I love the way Hoodie ONLY defends ex Dolphins. He was all over Beck while he was here. Seriously, should you be on a Patriots board this time of the season? How fucking pathetic are you?
