Lebron James
Chris Bosh
Dwyane Wade
Mario Chalmers

Mike Miller (shooter) looks like a done deal.
Udonis Haslem (blue collar defender) looks likely, as well.

I've heard these rumors (or at least the names mentioned):
Shaq
Iverson
Derek Fisher
Quentin Richardson
Ilgauskas

Thoughts on these or other guys who might be good/bad fit for Miami?

America's team

Shaq would be completely useless and clog up the lane. Not a good fit.

Fisher would be a good fit because he likes to hop onto the bandwagon of contending teams. Good fit.

Iverson needs to latch on to a team and win a tainted title, as a bench scrub so he'd fit right in. Good fit.

Ilgauskas would be a good fit because he's 12 feet tall and can't play down low. He shoots nothing but mid-range jumpers. Good fit

Richardson, I don't know much about. But I think he likes to gun too, so there are probably not enough shots for him to take with the other gunners already there.

We can be just OK for the next 2 seasons until Chris Paul's contract expires in 2012.

Udonis was the big one...we need that gritty interior defender to complement Bosh in the post. Big Z would be a good fit for that as well. I don't see Derek Fisher leaving the Lake Show, but wouldn't mind Q-Rich as a bench 3-point gunner.

I'm just ecstatic about Haslem. Fausto will tell ya...he's one of my favorite Heat players of all time, behind only Thunder Dan Majerle probably, and a guy I've really liked since his college days at Florida.  I've worn his #40 jersey to the majority of the home games I've attended as well.

Agreed.  I love Udonis.  He's one of my all-time faves.

We're looking at a crunch-time unit of Wade-Miller-James-Bosh-Haslem.  As Tommy Boy would have said, "Holy Schnikes!"

Those five, plus Chalmers, Big Z, Juwan Howard, and, say Carlos Arroyo / Keyon Dooling / Rasual Butler makes for a nice little roster, no?

I don't expect Haslem to be on the first unit.  I also don't expect to see a ton of Bosh/Wade/Lebron on the court at the same time.  I think that all three will start, but then you move them around, so that you always have a "go-to" scorer.

^^^No, I meant crunch-time as in 4th quarters of close games.

Miller and Haslem won't start.  Chalmers will likely start at PG and the Center's not currently on the roster.

Interesting, but I still don't see that playing out.  Do you put Bosh at Center, and then Lebron and Haslem at Forward, with Wade and whoever else at Guard?

I see Haslem at center, which he is willing to do.  Bosh at PF, LeBron or Miller at Small Forward, Wade or Miller at shooting guard, and LeBron or Wade at the point.  Haslem has played undersized center at times for the Heat, and I could see it again.  You'd lose shot-blocking but would otherwise be in decent shape.  Haslem's a tough SOB; he'll bang with seven footers.

i think joel anthony is alot better than people think he is ..

with that being said

he sucks offensively .. .. completely .. but he's a good defender, decent rebounder and elite shot blocker.

i wonder how many points the heat need from the center position to win

4 ?

I don't think you want Haslem at Center in the 4th quarter.  I think he'll be 3rd in the center rotation, and probably only used in foul-trouble situations or if you're playing a certain favorable matchup.

I think that Haslem will be a valuable power forward behind Bosh, that can also hit open jumpers from 15 feet.

The key here is to not keep all three superstars on the court at once.  Stagger them to always have go-to scorers on the court.

I'd like to see them justify taking players of that quality out of the game for any stretch of time. Those guys are going to be on the court constantly, but the good news is that there will still be two on the court when one does finally take a break. The only way they take any off for extended periods is foul trouble, injury, or blowout.
