Year of the pitcher carried over to ASG of the pitcher for the most part...dominant arms all over. Josh Johnson looked great in his two perfect innings, but best of all...

NL: 3
AL: 1

VIVA la National League, bitches!!!!

I'm just glad to see my Rays represented some of the only action for the AL.  Longo did his thing and I'm proud of Price too.  Awesome to see him in the spotlight.

I always thought homefield in the world series being decided by this game was a terrible idea. Now that the AL lost, I think it REALLY is a terrible idea.

Pretty boring game actually. Crowd was dead too, but then again the Angels fans in general are crappy unless it's the playoffs or against the Yankees.

Even though the NL actually "gets" the homefield edge this year, and my Padres are actually legitimate contenders for the playoffs...I STILL hate the all star game having "any" effect on the World Series. Any time you allow a pimply-faced pre-teen who knows nothing about baseball the opportunity to vote 5,000 times for the participants, the game needs to immediately become "exhibition only."

Padres pitching is ridiculous. 3.25 team ERA. Most teams don't even have ONE pitcher that good, reliever or starter.

If they can somehow add another bat, their chances are excellent. Only thing they have to worry about is Latos' innings limit. You would hate to have to shut him down in September because he hit 190 innings.

I wish the All-Star game were different.  Less serious.  I like seeing guys having fun, goofing around, kinda like that little exchange between Valverde and Byrd in the 9th.  I like to see outfielders trying to play short and Shortstops trying to pitch.  I like to see people just having fun.  These guys are always so serious.

But, to be honest, I think more people watch it when its a "real" game.

I'm stoked.  Now when Boston sweeps away whatever pathetic excuse for a team that it faces in the World Series (see '04 St. Louis and '07 Rockies), they'll finally be able to celebrate a World Series win at home, in Fenway!  Yay!  Thank you, Bud Selig for this great idea!

Nope.  They'll be full strength (+) soon.  They'll even be getting the forgotting (former) starting short stop Jed Lowrie back.  Who, by the way, is hitting the cover off the ball in AAA.

Boston would need to actually make the playoffs in order to win the world series, and NY and TB are coming out of the AL-E this year.

Hey...there's always 2011.

The Yankees likely are, but AJ Burnett still is on the roster, so you never know.

Then how do you propose the homefield edge ought be awarded?

For all the knocks people have about the system...you have to give baseball credit for making the all-star game a more compelling event than the pro-bowl.

I am really looking forward to the All Star game being here in Phoenix next year. I am doing everything in my power to score some bleacher seats for the Home Run Derby.

Good luck AZ!  We couldn't even get a whiff of tickets when it was here.
