The Patriots defense took another hit today with starting CB Leigh Bodden joining Ty Warren on IR.

Hoodie, who does that leave as your starting CBs? Darius Buttler would seem the obvious #1, but who do you put out there with him? Rookie Devin McCourty (first round pick) got the nod in preseason, but that seems like a risky proposition against good passing offenses (which, fortunately for the Pats, don't seem plentiful in the AFC East).

In other news, how are the media up there handling the Brandon 'Chatroulette Pornstar' Spikes incident?

Patriots are looking vulnerable this year!

The most positive thing I can say about Bodden is I was in the minority of Pats fans happy with the McCourty pick in the first round.  This does nothing to change my opinion of THAT.

I have penciled in

Butler - Starter
McCourty - Starter
Wilhite - Nickel
Wheatley - Dime
Arrington -Backup/ST

Not the strongest secondary in the NFL but not horrible either.  Biggest problem is lack of experience.  As you said Patriots don't face a lot of really strong passing offense.  Which is good.  But the stopping the Colts or Vikings is gonna be an issue.  Patriots offense seems even stronger than last year, maybe even stronger than 2007.  So the Patriots could win games 45-42 or something like that.   We will see.  Some Pats fans are jumping off bridges as if it was Brady not Bolden going on IR.  I am not.   Good teams find a way to overcome injuries and the Patriots are a good team.

As for Spikes just some noise.  Happened in college.  If the league won’t get involved with what Bush did in college, there is no way this falls under personal conduct.  Also the league ignored Farve sending porn pictures to an unwilling individual in this case all parties were consenting.  At worst Spikes gets is a strongly worded letter from Godell telling him that some behavior that was tolerated in college is not accepted in the NFL.  That and he will be the butt of a few locker room jokes and a minor distraction at the next to BB presser.  Not criminal, everyone an adult, all censual = no big deal.

Oh, I agree there is no way the NFL can do anything about this, considering when it took place (assuming, as you say, the individuals involved were old enough in the relevant jurisdiction). The NFL is partly to blame for the media speculations of a possible punishment by saying that it's something they're looking into.

I like Boston.com's comment on the video:

There are no allegations that the woman in the video did not consent to the activity.

No kidding. Being the diligent person that I am, I tracked down the video in question, and seriously, I'm not sure SPIKES is in a state where he could consent to the act being performed on him by the girl. On the other hand, the girl seems to be enjoying herself and the camera quite a bit. (Spikes is mostly just lying on a bed with a dopey smile on his face... not necessarily hard to understand, given the circumstances, of course).

In case anyone takes it upon themselves to check the veracity of my claims and view the video themselves, note that it is SOLIDLY in the not-safe-for-work category.
