I enjoy the phrase Rex Ryan likes to use, "Play like a Jet."

Does he mean they should play really crappy like they have for the vast majority of the last 40 years or is he referring to West Side Story:  "When you're a jet, you're a jet all the way..."   Then the dancing begins.

I love seeing the Jets suck.  They got every break and still sucked.

It was really odd watching JT in that jersey.  It didn't bother me so much to see him as a Redskin, but as a Jet it kinda hurt.

Wow, what a surprise. A team from New York was over-hyped.

What happens to the Jets, as a team, if they really do go 1-4? I mean, the way Rex Ryan has them pumped up, the attitude, the arrogance... I'm just not sure that can survive a 1-4 start. The team could complete implode.

And, like everyone else it seems, I think the Jets look very poorly coached. I enjoyed Hard Knocks, but it showed one thing very clearly: Rex Ryan is a piece of sh*t. I'm ashamed to admit I kinda liked his brashness last year, when all I saw was the occasional interview. Other (Jets) coaches came off a lot better on the show (as did Tannenbaum). The running backs coach, in particular, seemed to really have his shit together and worked well with the players.

I didn't see a poorly coached team, I saw a poorly coached offense.  I saw an offense that has been coached to be conservative, don't make mistakes, don't go down the field when you can check it down underneath, don't try to win the game, just make sure you don't lose it.

That's a mistake, even when you have the Jets D.

if a team defense allows the other team to convert a dozens times on 3rd and long because of stupid penalties...the defense is poorly coached.  no two ways about it.

Are you kidding? I don't have the exact # handy , but the defense was flagged for what seemed 50 + yds on penalties. All at VERY bad times. One of them turned a 3 pointer into 7 by giving them a first down on 4th .  That defense is SICK. But poorly coached. Monday night anyway. Miami will have to air it out against the Jets.

I thought that was a bit of an aberration and I'll also give credit to the Ravens offense for forcing a lot of those penalties.  Time after time Flacco picked on the rookie DB who had several of those penalties.  That's smart football by the Ravens and yes Rex probably should have backed off, but still they were in the game till the very end despite the fact that his offense was putrid.  They still had a shot to win the game when a WR runs out of bounds a yard shy of a first down.  Penalties are going to happen especially when you play the sort of D they do, but running out of bounds a yard short of the sticks on 4th down is poor coaching.

I also think that is what you get when you coach a conservative offense.  You get an offense that's not prepared to have to win the game at the end.

^^^ I cannot disagree more. Even people who have never played the game of football know you can't run out of bounds a yard shy of the marker on fourth down. It was a player's error the whole way. A professional football player shouldn't have to be coached to not run out of bounds shy of the marker with the game on the line.

I hear what you are saying, but on the other hand how often do you see this happen to a team like Indianapolis let's say?  I think it does indicate a less disciplined/less aggressive approach.
