In the Dolphins/Vikings game, I believe it was Jason Allen who picked off a Brett Favre pass.  Without reviewing the tape, my memory puts Jason Allen at about the 1/2 yard line, pedaling backwards when he makes the pick, and falling onto his butt into the endzone.

The way I remember the rule (at least with kickoffs, and I thought with all plays) is that if your momentum carried you into the endzone, then the play was ruled a touchback.  (This was after some safeties were getting called on perfectly good interceptions or backpedaling kickoff returns.)

Anyway, in the Dolphins game, we got possession at the ball at about the 1/2 yard line.  That caused us to "waste" plays getting some room away from the endzone.  (Ricky fumbled on the next play.)

Anyway, I wanted us to challenge the spot of the interception, since Allen fell into the endzone, thinking that the 20 yards of field position not only helped flip field position a bit and get you some room to work, but didn't make you waste plays running for a 1/2 yard on 1st and 10.

I was at a bar, so I couldn't really hear the commentators, but I thought I heard something later about a rule change.  Was it ruled that the 1/2 yard line was Jason Allen's forward progress, or is it because momentum is a judgment call and can't be reviewed or some other reason?

I assumed it was forward progress but I am not positive of the rules in this case.

The rule was changed last year, if a defender's momentum carries him into the end zone, the ball will be spotted where the ball was intercepted (that was the commentary that I think you missed).....I don't think it's re viewable....
