RUMOR: Stephen Ross says get rid of infield dirt for Sunday

Not confirmed but some places are reporting Stephen Ross told stadium officials to lay the sod down and cover up the infield dirt for Sunday Nights game. Marlins last home game isn't till October but Ross wants the dirt gone for this game and doesnt' care, worry about the Marlins situation later.

Damn, I hope this is true.  I can't wait until that baseball team is evicted.  Can't they just finish out the rest of their season playing their home games where U of Miami's baseball team plays?  I'm sure it would more than hold all 3 dozen of the Marlin fans.

Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post is saying the Fins will have 4 days to prep the field before the Jets game. And 4 days after before the Marlins play again.

Still Not official yet but its looking like the dirt won't be there Sunday night

I don't care about the dirt, when they're playing baseball, but it always seems to screw us in our football games.

I think that we're a slow offensive team and that slows us down even more.

I give a crap about the dirt because it has a profound effect on the players.  That dirt infield is like playing on cat litter.  It causes injuries, makes kickers miss field goals, etc......   I remember Olindo Mare missing two field goals against New England in 2003, both of which were off that dirt.

you got that right, I think Mare's FG accuracy would have been a little higher with the Fins had he not been kicking from the cat litter box.

Screw the dirt. We are one of only two NFL teams sharing a stadium with a baseball team (I don;t count Toronto for the Bills). It is time to look like a professional sports town again.

I think the Dolphins have gone about this all wrong.

Use your unique homefield as a homefield advantage.  As bad as the infield is for the Dolphins, its worse for the visiting team that isn't use to it than a team who has it on their homefield.  What the Dolphins should do instead is add an infield to one of the pratice fields and learn how to use it to their advantage against opposing teams.

Likewise I think the Dolphin's request to play night games or away early in the season so the fans don't have to sit in the hot sun is dumb.  Use the heat as an advanage against teams from the north, like the fins use to.

With the team practicing in the climate-controlled bubble if it's hot enough to break a sweat, heat is no longer much of an advantage.
