I was at the game, so it was hard to tell on the big screen whether or not these two calls were correct, but they seemed bogus, and game-changing to me.

Personal Foul, either helmet to helmet, late hit, or hit on defenseless receiver to a guy who missed a catch across the middle on 3rd and long.  It ended up giving them a first down which led to their 2nd TD.

The other one was a pass interference call in the endzone on what looked like pretty good coverage.

The personal foul was a completely bogus call. As a matter of fact, they missed calling one against the Jets. As for the PI, it was a close one. Allen was trying to turn his head and find the ball. He may have done it a bit late.

Agreed that the helmet to helmet hit call was BS. And I also saw the hit that a Jets player put on a Fin (I think it was Cobbs) and was screaming why they didn't call that as a helmet to helmet hit!

As for the PI call, that seemed iffy to me, but 9 times out of 10, that will get called as PI.

Personal foul was total BS.  PI was more legit because Allen just jumped in the air and was not looking for the ball.

What the the personal foul for?  Helmet to helmet?  It was unclear to me as what the call even was.

The ref had trouble with his mic all night, but if I recall correctly, it was a helmet to helmet hit on Clemons.

Yeah, these were the type of calls that are frustrating because they were not intentional, and somewhat BS.  However, the Fins benefited from some BS calls against the Jets, so all in all it was pretty even.

What actually happened was that the receiver ducked to avoid a big hit or to brace for being hit and the defenders shoulder went straight into his helmet.  Had the receiver not ducked, I don't think it would have been called, but that's the NFL these days.  Bunch of lousy calls on hits where nothing malicious was intended.  It doesn't have to be helmet to helmet, if the receiver is catching the football, you can't hit him in the head with your arms, shoulder or helmet.

And the call that was missed was a helmet to helmet on Ronnie Brown.  I guess it doesn't count if you are catching the football behind the line of scrimmage.

I think the PF call for helmet to helmet was bogus.  Clemons had both of his arms out in front of him.  It was more forearms to the body than helmet to helmet.

I actually thought the PI call was right, because Allen made contact with Edwards before he looked for the ball.  If I remember correctly, he grabbed Edwards' arm, then looked back for the ball.

It wasn't helmet-to-helmet. The call (as I heard it, anyway) was hitting the head of the receiver. The rules say that the defender isn't allowed to hit the receiver in the head with his arms. And Clemons did. Not sure how he could have avoided it, but that's another matter.

The PI was completely correct. Allen contacted Edwards WAY before turning his head to search for th ball.

I agree with Pappy, though... That hit on Brown was CLEARLY helmet to helmet. (Btw, who was the schmuck who missed his block? I mean COMPLETELY whiffed on it... might've been a good play otherwise).

I thought the unsportsmanlike "hitting the receiver in the head" call was ridiculous. Clemons was pulling up completely, and the receiver changed direction and there was nothing Clemons could do. Technically, the WR used his helmet to hit Clemons...

The PI call...as much as I hated it at the time, it was still a good call. Jason Allen definitely was hugging the receiver by the time he started turning his head to find the ball.

yeah at the end of the day, all you want from the refs is a fair and consistent game. if you are going to call the defenseless receiver hit to head call (or whatever it is), at the very least apply it consistently with the unsportsmanlike hit against ronnie. clearly that was helmet to helmet and driving a defenseless receiver into the ground.

the call on allen unfortunately was the right one. he got beat to the outside, smothered the receiver and never looked back for the ball. the last drive of the game he was lost out there.

Yeah the Personal Foul was horse shit as it was caused by nothing more than momentum. He tried to pull up but it was too late. Meanwhile Cobbs got lit up on a helmet to helmet direct contact later on and nothing.

The Pass Interference while I did not like the call I thought that it could have gone either way but Braylon sold it by initiating the contact and going over Allen. Had Allen turned and been in position he would have either picked it or knocked it down and there would have been no call.

I thought they were both legit. I disagree with the rule about hitting the receiver in the head when it is an accident but it is the rule. I'm pretty sure Dan said something along those lines when it happrned too.

As far as the pass interfernce I screamed it before the ref even threw the flag. I saw that one coming while the ball was in the air.

So, it sounds like maybe one bad call, pretty early in the game, that we eventually came back from.   You can't be too upset about that.
