Why put Pennington in? Just ride it out with Henne. The season is tough to salvage. We can't beat the Pats or Jets and we're losing all of the tie-breakers. It would take a miracle to get back in it.

Pennington is not an improvement.

...and before anyone says anything about his INTs today, the first one Hartline fell down, otherwise it was a completion, the second one bounced off of Marshall's hands and the third one...well I didn't see the third one because I was too depressed by that point and decided to watch the end of the Bucs game.  Henne is not the problem.

the last one wasn't really his fault either, it glanced off the reciever's hands and flew straight to Reed

I think its time for Penniginton.   Henne is too afraid to throw the ball downfield...  with Bees, Hartline, Fasano, and Marshall  someone has got to be open deep down field at some point in the game..  They all can't be covered all of the time.  The offensive line is doing a great job but all henne wants to throw is checkdown throws.  lets see what Penny can do.   Its week 9 and were at .500 ball.   I'm  calling for Penny

Actually I agree with you to a point. BUT, I would like to see what Thiggy has to offer in a real game situation, not just garbage time in an already long decided losing effort !!!

I think your argument contradicts itself...if your primary argument is that Henne is too afraid to throw the ball downfield (which I partly disgreee with and partly understand, he's afraid because when he does throw it his receivers can't catch it!) then how is Pennington who CAN'T throw the ball down field an improvement? If there has to be a change in QB, and given the season is already gone, Thigpen is the logical choice to come in.

I think Henne is struggling because the team has no offensive game plan, and poor play calling is putting in a hole and forcing him to have to make the plays.

I didn't see Brandon Marshall calling out his QB, I saw him calling out his offensive coordinator.  I think that's all you need to know.  They are over coaching ball safety with Henne.  He's never allowed to go down the field early in the game when the defense has to respect the run, they only ask him to go down the field once the team is down by 2 touchdowns and the defense is ball hawking.  You get what you ask for.

Henne is not Pennington.  They need to quit asking him to be Pennington and let him throw the damn ball.

Granted I WAS pissed with his miss of a wide open Fasano in the endzone.

Has anyone seen a comment as to WTF happened on that throw? He didn't just "miss" Fasano, he threw it 5+ yards away from the guy. On a 15 yard dink, even JaMarcus Russell could get it closer. Did the linebacker spook him? That's my best guess... he got spooked and threw it on the "safe" side of the linebacker, hoping Fasano would somehow make a play on it.

I hear a lot of people bitching about the play calling.

Has it ever occured to anyone that the play calling is dumbed down and not field stretching because the staff simply doesn't think Henne can make those throws (or adjustments) at this point?

I can think of at least six 999's this season when Henne had Marshall wide open and either over threw him by about four yards or under threw him by four.

Pennington, if nothing else, is accurate as the day is long.  His arm isn't that weak.  It's not Elway-like, of course not.  But the guy is no Heath Shuler, either.

^^ all due respect, but this season, in preseason and in camp, his arm was probably weaker than mine.

I obviously haven't seen him throw live since preseason, but I can say with high confidence that during the preseason, I have seen better balls thrown on a college intramural field by drunk frat boys.
