multiple reports that Odrick re-broke his leg and is out for the year. If true---wow. Yatil Green all over again. That would be 3 breaks in 2 years. How the team doctors could miss this is beyond me. Unless they are the same clowns that said Brees was done and Culpeeper was a-OK.

Man...that sucks.  We have been pretty lucky on the injury front so far (and haven't capitalized in a few cases, like with Revis out).  Staying healthy is that piece of luck that can make a team like ours overachieve.  I hope this isn't a trend.

Welcome to the site, by the way.

awful news. Our run defense is bad, now with Solai staying at NT and Starks at DE full time it just got a lot worse.

We have been pretty lucky on the injury front so far

Crowder, Odrick, and John Jerry have all missed games with injuries.

Add to that our list of IR casualties: Randy Thomas, Philip Merling, Joey Haynos, Nate Garner, and Will Allen.

And that's just the players who would be expected to get significant playing time even if everyone were 100%. There are a handful of "depth" casualties as well (e.g. Lionel Dotson).

So while we may not have lost any of our "star" players, we've lost a lot of really solid guys.

Lucky? Not in my humble opinion.

This sucks. I was concerned about his leg being problematic after he initially injured. Now he apparently has done it twice in a season.

Welcome to the boards berkeley. When you post news like this, try to post a link to an article that substantiates it.
Here's the article from CBS Sportsline.
And he hasn't broken it twice this season, it was the break from game one which has forced him to IR.

Dolphins lose first-round rookie for the season
Posted by Andy Benoit

Dolphins rookie defensive end Jared Odrick has been battling back from a fractured fibula suffered in the season opener against Buffalo. The first-round pick was hoping to return sometime around Week 5 (it was just a hairline fracture).

That will not be the case. Odrick was placed on Injured Reserve Wednesday night, according to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network.

The Dolphins essentially became prepared to march forward without Odrick once coaches moved Randy Starks from nose tackle back to his more natural end position. Kendall Langford, inconsistent at times though very agile against the run, remains the other starting defensive end.

Thanks for the welcomes. While most injuries are just unfortunate accidents, I can't help but feel that the team should have had some warning that this kind of thing was possible. The guy was drafted with a metal plate in his leg from a prior fracture. Then he breaks the same let twice in 6 weeks. I have a feeling he'll never play for us again, aside from a few Yatil Green like plays at best.

Anyone remember Mike Sherrard of the cowboys in the mid 80s? I think he broke his leg like 3 times, the first in training camp his rookie year, second time just jogging on the beach before training camp his second season. Was a college star and first round pick and never amounted to anything in the pros b/c he kept breaking his leg. Hopefully Odrick drinks his milk and somehow his bones ossify. But I have my doubts. We shoulda stayed put and took Earl Thomas.....

He did not break it twice. I have not read any reports saying he broke it twice. He broke it in game one. They thought he'd be able to come back for week 5, but they decided to put him on IR instead of chancing additional injury.

thought I had read he re-broke the leg. If he didn't and it just wasn't healing quick enough, I feel better about it. seemed pretty optimistic to think the guy would come back in a few weeks from a broken leg anyway....
but the team is so secretive with injuries, I'm not sure the true story is out there anyway

Not according to what I saw (in a couple sources). He was back at practice and injured himself again yesterday.

Eh...sumbitch!

Well, on the bright side, maybe this is the year Soliai learns to be a full-time NT.

We could've had Earl Thomas in round 1 and Mount Cody in round 2, who is really clogging up the middle in Baltimore.  Then we could've grabbed Aaron Hernandez in round 3 who would solve our pass catching TE needs.

Instead, we've got a guy who is on IR (Odrick), another guy who is making plays but not consistently (Misi), and a third guy who can't get his starting job back (Jerry)
