We could've had Earl Thomas in round 1 and Mount Cody in round 2, who is really clogging up the middle in Baltimore. Then we could've grabbed Aaron Hernandez in round 3 who would solve our pass catching TE needs.
Instead, we've got a guy who is on IR (Odrick), another guy who is making plays but not consistently (Misi), and a third guy who can't get his starting job back (Jerry)
we couldn't have had both earl thomas and a 2d round pick (cody or otherwise). If we stayed at 12 we'd have no 2d rounder, which went to Den in the Marshall deal. We only got the 2d in the trade down. But we could have had Cody over Misi I think---however I haven't heard anything about Cody, is he playing well?
Misi has been playing pretty well so far, so I can't complain too much. But he doesn't look like a future star or anything.
Had to look it up first before I went and stuck my foot in my mouth, but I was pretty certain that T-Cody as I like to call him (though I know the appropriate nickname is "Mount" Cody) hadn't even played this season for the Ravens. After looking at the *stats* on nfl.com, I can't say that's the case any longer because it does show 3 games for him in the game log in the last 3 games (against Pittsburgh, Denver, and NE) but not a single tackle or any chartable stat. While I don't know that that means he hasn't seen the field, given that a) I haven't been able to see any of Baltimore's games so far this season and b) he plays a position (3-4 NT) where a guy doesn't get a lot of tackles, but not even a single assist in 3 games would be pretty surprising to me. So, I'm gonna guess that he hasn't seen the field that much since he's been healthy and, if he is, he's not "really clogging up the middle in Baltimore" unless he's somehow managing to do that while not even getting a large paw on a guy as he comes through the middle.
Plus, as has already been stated by both berkeley and MikeO, getting those two guys (Earl Thomas and Cody) together was not possible since we picked up that 2nd round pick when we traded down. It does suck what has happened with Odrick, because the guy looked like he could do something in his brief time on the field (preseason and against Buffalo, for what it's worth), but I also kinda have a bad feeling about this. Hopefully it won't turn out "Yatil Green bad" (yikeesss!), but you never know.....
Finally, concerning Misi...while I would like to see more (and hopefully much more) out of the guy eventually, I think he's doing pretty well so far. He hasn't been making plays all over the field, I'll give you that, and he's kinda "walked into" one or two of those three sacks so far this season, but give the guy a little credit--from what I remember reading before the draft, the guy never really played 3-4 OLB in college, just switched between DT and DE, so that in itself is an adjustment so just for not playing poorly out there, I'm happy with his play so far, even at the middle of the 2nd round.
