WHAAAAA???

The Dolphins came out in Wildcat formation on a third down in the first quarter of the Patriots' game.  That was 3 weeks ago.  The fans boo'ed them mercilessly.

Then Dan Henning went on a tirade in the media, saying the fans are dumb and don't know what they are talking about.

He hasn't run a single play out of the Wildcat formation since.

So, why do you think that is?  What does John McShitrag have to say about it now, Mr. Henning?

1) Ronnie Brown SUCKS. The guy has lost a step and isn't the same player anymore. If he isn't running the wild cat we have nobody else to run it.

2) the inside of our o-line is good, but not great. Last couple years it has been great.

That combination = no more wildcat

Ronnie has a tendency to "dance" a bit too much. He's been doing more of that the past two games and it tends to hurt his performance. That doesn't mean he "sucks" or that he's "lost a step". MikeO, you are a classic overreacting fan...

If you look back at the times when the Wild Cat worked the best (aside from the initial "wtf is that" times), we had the unbalanced line and at least 3 valid threats from it. The keeper up the middle. Hand-off to Ricky around the end. And keeper left.

Seems like it's been almost all "keeper up the middle" recently and without the unbalanced line to shake things up.

not overreacting. Just REALISTIC!

The wildcat doesn't work for us anymore because we don't have the players to make it work.

Ronnie has lost a step. And losing Grove, Smiley, and Thomas has made our interior o-line weaker as a group. That is why we don't run the play anymore. Because we can't. We don't have the horses.

^^ you say that like we "lost them" involuntarily.  Thomas and Grove were CUT.  Smiley was traded.  Meaning they got outplayed in camp.  If they were so awesome, why did they get beat out by the guys in there now?

BS and LIES on your part!!  Grove and Smiley were let go because of their contract.

In an uncapped year we pinched pennies in an area we shouldn't have. Smiley was never in camp so how did he get outplayed in camp?!

And as it turns out, the guys in there now are playing horribly.  Richie Incognito is getting blown up at the line of scrimmage and Pat McQuistan, for all of his being able to hold his blocks in pass protection, isn't able to create a hole in the running game.

I agree with Mike.  This year was uncapped.  They should have taken advantage.

"Uncapped year" does not mean the same thing as "limitless roster."

Which DBs are we going to cut to make room for more OL spots?  Which LBs?

Our special teams unit has already been atrocious this year and you're talking about depleting it even further by dropping what are almost certainly ST players for more OLinemen.  This team has enough invested on the OLine already.

How about we kept Groove and Smiley and didn't go sign the Cowboys backups like Procter and McQuistin. 2 for 2 even swap. Sound like a plan!! Our team was too stupid to do that though.

What would be the point?  Grove and Smiley were already being outperformed by the people who lost their jobs to McQuistan, Incognito, Berger, etc.  I thought you were of the opinion that if Player A is starting over Player B, that means that Player A is indisputably superior?

If you're going to side with keeping already exiled failures, you might as well argue that we should have kept Satele.

We cut them because of their contracts not because of their play. Why can't you understand that?

Grove had a clause in his deal that if he was on the opening day roster he got a huge roster bonus. So we cut him to save a few bucks. Smiley for the same reason. But we just didn't wait as long as with Grove. NEITEHR were cut over their play!

I know it's been pointed out in a different thread, but why hasn't Grove been signed by another team if he's any good?

Smiley got picked up by Jacksonville, but hasn't gotten much playing time. If he were any good, one would assume he'd be playing, right?

Smiley starts for Jacksonville. So I have no clue where you are getting your mis-information from

Grove got a HUGE signing bonus by Miami. so he took the year off to get to 100% for next year on whichever team he signs.

It was in the news, google it!

Smiley did start... initially... but has been replaced by Manuwai. Your mis-information likely stems from NFL.com's depthchart for Jax, which hasn't been updated to reflect reality.

Bull... you need to read something other than the spin from Grove and his folks, or wherever you're getting your info. Grove has tried out for the Ravens, Raiders and Lions... and that's just this month (and may not be a complete list, just the teams I came across).

I'm going to play the MikeO card here and point out that even the 5-11 Raiders didn't resign Grove back before Miami got him.  Therefore, he sucks.
